Steven Gerrard has shared an adorable family update with his granddaughter Lila Grey. The Liverpool legend’s daughter gave birth to her first child last year and the family regularly share updates into their life on social media. Lilly shared the incredible news she had welcomed her first child into the world when she posted a snap of her partner, Lee Byrne, as he carried their new baby out of the hospital.
The 21-year-old has kept her followers updated after giving birth right from the very moment she arrived home with her newborn. The Liverpool FC legend’s daughter later revealed how she has carried on a family tradition as she confirmed the name of her new bundle of joy.
She said: “So lucky to be your mum. My beautiful baby girl. Lila Grey. Perfection.” The adorable name is in keeping with a family tradition as the retired Reds’ midfielder and his wife Alex gave all of their children names beginning with L. In addition to Lilly, the couple are the proud parents of Lexie, Lourdes and Lio.
In a recent Instagram story, Gerrard shared an adorable video of his seven-month-old granddaughter smiling and laughing.
A video could be heard playing in the background, teaching baby Lila how to say ‘mama’ and ‘dada’ as she clapped her hands and giggled.
Gerrard also shared a photo of himself and his wife Alex as they enjoyed a glass of wine while out at a restaurant in Bahrain. The family were previously based in Bahrain’s capital city, Manama, which is only an hours’ drive from the eastern Saudi Arabian city of Dammam, where Gerrard coached Al-Ettifaq.
Gerrard left his position as head coach of Al-Ettifaq in the Saudi Arabian pro league last year and is enjoying life as a grandad, regularly sharing insights into family life.
After Lilly announced the pregnancy last year, Gerrard was the first to comment online as he said: “We can’t wait. Great news and congratulations we love you.”
Alex Gerrard took to the comments and said: “Can’t wait.” Lilly’s sister, Lexie, also posted “Can’t wait to be an auntie.”
Steven and Alex recently shared heartfelt messages to one another for Valentine’s Day.
Alex shared a picture with Gerrard to her story and captioned it: “Happy Valentine’s Day Steven. Love you loads.” She added a red love heart and a rose emoji. A second picture showed a glass of red wine on a table as the couple enjoyed a meal together at a restaurant yesterday evening, February 13.
An adorable photo was uploaded by Gerrard as he reciprocated the love. He posted a photo of him and Alex, with their granddaughter Lila Grey in his arms. The former Red said: “Happy Valentine’s Day Alex.”
