Kit Green Star Shares Honest Thoughts on Filming Dark Scenes — And Why It’s “Exciting”

Jacob Roberts

Coronation Street’s Jacob Roberts has shared he enjoys playing the “darker” side of his character Kit Green. The 35-year-old actor portrays the corrupt detective in the ITV soap and he explained he prefers to explore the shady nature of his alter ego. Kit first arrived on the cobbles in May 2024 and has been central to some of the soap’s major storylines.

Speaking to Inside Soap magazine, Jacob said he finds it “exciting” to play a character who gets embroiled in endless chaotic storylines. He said: “Even when he’s being dodgy, I believe he’s doing it for the right reasons. It’s nice to play the darker part of his character. That’s more exciting. I do prefer Kit to be dodgy rather than good!”

Jacob has been involved in a number of stunts since joining Corrie in 2024 and revealed that he has developed a taste for high-octane scenes that were a feature of the Corriedale crossover with Emmerdale earlier this year.

He said: “I love doing stunts like we did in Corriedale. That’s the best thing about being an actor.

“I’ve been lucky enough to do a few stunts at Corrie – keep them coming! It was exciting to be involved, it was like being on a film set!”

Jacob said he has plenty of ideas about the direction Kit could take in future storylines but is happy to leave the creation of plots to the writing team.

The former Hollyoaks actor said: “I leave the writers to it!”

He added: “I don’t really go upstairs and ask for meetings or anything like that. I prefer to just see what I get in my scripts and find a way to make it right for me.

“That’s part of the process of being an actor in a soap. They know what’s best for my character, so I leave them to it.”

Jacob also explained he is keen for Kit to share more scenes with Gary Windass (Mikey North) – which have the potential for fireworks as the police officer is currently in a relationship with Gary’s former partner Sarah Platt (Tina O’Brien).

He said: “I really want to work with Mikey North. We had a few scenes where he was involved, but I think there are some good dynamics there, especially being Sarah’s ex!

“I’d be really intrigued to go down that route with Gary. I don’t think Kit is threatened by Sarah’s history, but that might well come up in the future…”
