Former Coronation Street star Georgia May Foote has opened up about her marriage breakdown for the first time. The 34 year old’s split from Kris Evans was made public in July last year.
During a Q&A session with her loyal followers, she was asked about her relationship status, to which she responded: “I am single.”
Last year, she removed her wedding ring and erased all signs of the musician, whom she once referred to as her “best friend”, from her Instagram account – including stunning snaps from their wedding day.
A source told The Sun: “Georgia’s marriage to Kris seems to be over. It’s on the rocks,” adding, “She’s looking to the future and is surrounded by friends and her family.”
Soon after, it was revealed that the couple were still living together in their marital home, reports the Mirror.
Another insider shared: “Georgia has been through a lot recently and it’s not surprising that it has put strain on her marriage.
“She told friends she wanted a fresh start after the terrible fire earlier this year and she’s just not sure where Kris fits into that. They are still on good enough terms to stay in their home together.”
Reflecting on her challenging year, Georgia looked forward to leaving 2025 behind and focusing on the New Year.
Sharing a series of photos and videos, the soap actress penned: “Worst year I’ve ever had in my life. I couldn’t catch a break, thank god for my friends and family. This has been one of the worst years I’ve ever experienced. And I know this because literally I couldn’t find a single happy period to even post about.”
Looking back on the snapshots she chose to share, which included moments with her beloved pooch and her festive pantomime performances, Georgia penned: “So here are some little things that made me happy in the middle of it all.
“(Not the fire obvs). Don’t worry, running is going to get it’s on post because without that I’m not even sure where I would be.”
Georgia and Kris exchanged vows in 2023 at a rustic log-cabin style venue, two years after their romantic engagement on New Year’s Eve in 2021.
Ahead of their big day, Georgia couldn’t contain her excitement, sharing a snap from her hen celebrations online with the caption: “I am about to marry my best friend. The person who makes me a better person. Here’s to the last month of being a Foote.”
The actress is best known for playing Katy Armstrong in Coronation Street from 2010 to 2015. That same year, Georgia took to the Strictly Come Dancing floor, where she impressed viewers and finished as runner-up alongside professional partner Giovanni Pernice.
