The sister of reality TV star Holly Hagan, died from “multi-organ failure” and “MDMA overdose” after a night out at Manchester’s Warehouse Project in October, an inquest hearing held at Manchester Coroner’s Court was told on Monday, December 15.

Toxicology tests found “high levels'” of MDMA were present in 19-year-old Darci Rose Gibson’s body. Darci was rushed to hospital after suffering a cardiac arrest during the night out and sadly died two days later in October of this year, the inquest heard.

Acting senior coroner, Zak Golombeck, said Darci died at Manchester Royal Infirmary on October 20 this year. Mr Golombeck read from a statement supplied by a police coroner’s officer. He said Darci was born on November 16, 20, and her next of kin was her older sister, Holly.

Mr Golombeck said Darci was admitted to the MRI on October 18 “having suffered a cardiac arrest”. She remained in hospital for treatment but developed multi-organ failure and died there on October 20, The Manchester Evening news reports.

A provisional cause of death, pending a full inquest, was given by the coroner as multi-organ failure and MDMA overdose. The coroner said he also accepted evidence relating to her identification and ordered further evidence in the form of a file from Greater Manchester Police. He said police have confirmed there were no suspicious circumstances or ‘evidence of third party involvement’ in her death.

The inquest was adjourned to a later date. No further details were heard and no date for a full inquest was set. Speaking to the Daily Mail earlier this month, Holly shared details of Darci’s final moments in a bid to highlight the dangers associated with recreational drug use. Holly explained Darci was looking forward to the evening at the Warehouse Project as she “loved Manchester”.

She said: “We all went to bed that night and around 5am I heard a light knock on my door and I thought my son had woken up. But I looked at my phone to see the time and I had 130 missed calls.

“My heart dropped and you know when your whole body goes into panic. The first message I saw was in capital letters saying ‘we are with your sister, you need to get to Manchester Royal Infirmary right now, please call us back’ and that was at 2am. My whole body was in fight mode. I sat on the toilet shaking.”

Holly, mum to two-year-old Alpha-Jax and currently expecting her second child with footballer husband Jacob Blyth, said when she arrived at the hospital, doctors informed her Darci had taken crystal MDMA, a class A substance.

Holly said while Darci had previously experimented with drugs at a festival she had never before taken the drug in its crystal form and had unknowingly added an unspecified amount to her drink.

The TV personality acknowledged some might view Darci’s actions as ‘reckless’ but insisted that her sister was ‘always so sensible’ and would only partake ‘at these kind of events’. Holly believes that Darci was “naïve” about the quantity of the drug she had mixed into her drink in the dimly-lit club.

Following her death, Greater Manchester Police said in a statement: “On Sunday 19 October 2025 we were called by hospital staff to the concern for welfare of a 19-year-old woman who had fallen seriously ill after it is believed she had taken drugs. Sadly, the woman died in hospital Monday evening (October 20). Our thoughts remain with her family at this difficult time. Enquiries are ongoing.”
