Coronation Street and Emmerdale Stars Call for Help in Explosive ‘Corriedale’ Crossover Trailer

The first explosive trailer for the long-awaited Coronation Street and Emmerdale crossover episode, Corriedale, has been released — and it promises to be unmissable.

Soap fans are sure to be thrilled by the sneak peek of the epic episode, set to air in early January 2026.

The trailer opens with the aftermath of a dramatic crash just outside the fictional village of Hotten, a well-known Emmerdale location.

It seems the residents of Weatherfield have made the journey to Yorkshire, with a mix of characters from both soaps featured in the clip.

Emmerdale fans will be pleased to see Liam Cavanagh (Jonny McPherson) and Aaron Dingle (Danny Miller) making appearances in the special episode.

Meanwhile, Coronation Street favourites David Platt (Jack P. Shepherd), Tracy Barlow (Kate Ford), and Lisa Swain (Vicky Myers) will be trading the Cobbles for the rolling hills of the Yorkshire Dales for this unique crossover.

The burning question on every fan’s mind is: who will survive, and how did the worlds of Coronation Street and Emmerdale collide in the first place?

According to ITV’s official press release, “CORRIEDALE is just the beginning of the drama, as the aftermath of the crash sparks fear, murderous intent, death, destruction, closely-guarded secrets, and lies. Life in Emmerdale and Weatherfield will never be the same again!”

In May, it was announced that the two soaps would make history with this landmark crossover episode. The network explained at the time: “The distinctive worlds of Emmerdale and Coronation Street will merge for one night only in a ‘mash-up’ of our two favourite communities.

“The producers, scriptwriters, and production teams have devised a clever way to link the two universes, with characters returning to their respective shows in Manchester and Yorkshire afterward. The episode will be self-contained, but the high-stakes drama will have lasting repercussions for both communities, introducing exciting new characters and seeing familiar faces depart.”

Filming for the special began back in October.

Iain MacLeod, ITV’s Executive Producer for Continuing Drama, said at the time: “It’s incredibly exciting that filming is now underway on Corriedale.

“There’s a huge buzz on both the Leeds and Manchester sets, and the images coming out of the shoot are absolutely spectacular. And that’s before we even see all the brilliant interactions between characters from the different shows!

“As a soap fan myself, I think my head is going to explode when the episode airs next year. It’s going to be mind-blowing, historic, and completely unmissable.”

Corriedale will bring together the residents of Weatherfield — the fictional town in Salford, Greater Manchester, home to Coronation Street — and the villagers of Emmerdale in Yorkshire for an action-packed hour of drama.

The combined production teams have pulled off an ambitious stunt with far-reaching consequences for the characters involved. Details of the stunt and which characters take part are being carefully kept under wraps.

However, Iain recently revealed that an iconic Coronation Street character is set to be killed off next year.

Speaking to the Daily Star, he said: “The soap gods demand a sacrifice when you have an event of this kind. Sometimes the biggest and best exits are for the characters you care about the most. It’s going to be shocking — there will be plenty of trauma, drama, and twists.”

Iain also hinted that the significance of the death has sparked debates among the show’s producers. “There’s always that equation where you think, ‘If they go, the viewers will really care, but what impact will it have on the show’s landscape?’ It’s a big responsibility, so we do agonise over it a lot and argue about it,” he explained.
