Adam Collard reassures fans after fiancée Laura Woods collapses on live TV

Adam Collard, the former Love Island star and fiancé of sports presenter Laura Woods, has shared an update after Laura dramatically collapsed during a live broadcast. The couple share a son, Leo, who was born in January this year.

Taking to Instagram, Adam reassured fans with a post from X, writing: “Laura is all OK and with the right people. Thank you for all of your kind messages.”

The 38-year-old presenter collapsed unexpectedly on Tuesday night at St Mary’s Stadium in Southampton during the England Women’s match against Ghana. Football pundit Ian Wright quickly caught her, preventing a more serious accident, before the channel swiftly cut to an ad break.

Following the incident, fellow presenter Katie Shanahan stepped in to continue the broadcast, explaining that Laura had been “taken ill”:
“As you have probably noticed, we don’t have the wonderful Laura Woods because she’s just been taken ill, but she’s in very good hands. I’m stepping in at late notice.”

Fans were quick to send well wishes to the mum-of-one. One wrote: “Really hope Laura Woods is okay. Fair play to Ian Wright and Anita Asante for catching her. Fair play to the stand-in presenter who stepped in, some effort that.”

Adam Collard, 30, had a colourful love life before meeting Laura, including two stints on Love Island and an appearance on Celebs Go Dating, where he enjoyed a whirlwind romance with Lottie Moss.

Since beginning his relationship with Laura in October 2023, however, Adam’s focus has shifted. The couple announced they were expecting a child last July, and Leo was born at the start of this year. The former lothario has now fully embraced fatherhood and family life, becoming a devoted partner and doting dad.

Adam Collard’s first public romance was with Zara McDermott — now dating One Direction star Louis Tomlinson — after the pair coupled up in the Love Island villa in 2018. But after meeting Laura Woods, Adam revealed he immediately knew she was “The One.”

Reflecting on their romance, Adam previously said:
“The first time we met — I’ll hold my hands up — I did DM her first and got a reply, but then nothing ever happened. Then she called us out for basically leaving her on read. It’s hard to meet people, isn’t it? I’m from Newcastle. Eventually, we met up, went on a very undercover date, and obviously what comes out in the press, comes out in the press, but it’s not always the full story.”

In August, Adam told OK! that he and Laura are now planning a 2026 wedding, which has been delayed from their original schedule. The couple got engaged in September 2024 at the very spot “they first fell in love,” as Laura later shared on Instagram.

Having moved house this summer, Adam explained:
“We’d started to plan the wedding, but now we’ve moved, we’re going to do it closer to our new place. It’s on the back burner at the moment, but it’s going to be a 2026 wedding.”

He joked that their nine-year age gap may be influencing the delay:
“I honestly think Laura is holding off until I turn 30 so we’re both in our thirties for it!”

Adam also opened up about how becoming a dad has transformed his life:
“I’ve got a purpose now, whereas for years I felt like I was in limbo.”

Describing son Leo as “100 miles an hour,” he added:
“He’s a handful but so funny and everything we’ve ever wanted. Being a dad is great, but it’s challenging too — I’d never sugar-coat that. But it’s put everything into perspective. I’ve not got a lot of family members that I’m close to, unlike Laura. Both my mum and dad have been missing at different stages of my life. But I want to compensate for that and be the best I can possibly be for Leo.”
