Cameron Norrie Gets Engaged to His ‘Best Friend’ of Six Years During Private Safari Trip

British tennis star Cameron Norrie has announced his engagement to his “best friend” and long-term partner of six years, Louise Jacobi, sparking joy (and perhaps a few broken hearts) across the nation.

The couple shared the happy news on Instagram, posting snapshots from their trip to South Africa, where the proposal took place during a safari adventure.

Captioning the post, they wrote: “A special moment on our trip in South Africa. Cheers to a beautiful life together with my best friend. (Note: real engagement ring to come).”

The photos show Cameron—Britain’s former Wimbledon semi-finalist and current world No. 27—and Louise beaming, with Louise holding up a ring on her pinky finger. Other images capture their safari experience, including a close-up of a lion and a playful shot of Louise on Cameron’s back against a stunning sunset.

Fans react to the engagement

The couple’s friends and fans flocked to the comments to share their congratulations. Australian tennis player Alex de Minaur wrote: “Ayeeeeeeeee congrats guys!!!! It’s that time of year,” while Argentine tennis player Tomás Etcheverry said: “Congrats.”

Others added: “Amazing! Congratulations legends” and “Congratulations guys!! So happy for you both x”

Who is Cameron Norrie’s fiancé Louise Jacobi?

Louise Jacobi is a fashion and textile designer who has worked with renowned brands including Calvin Klein, AFNY, Donghia, and Holly Hunt. She and Cameron Norrie have been together since 2019, having been introduced by mutual friends at the US Open in New York.

In October 2019, after Louise unexpectedly lost her job, Cameron invited her to watch him play in Vienna, and she decided to accept.

“When he asked me, I thought, ‘I guess this guy doesn’t live a normal life, and it’s not like I can just meet him down the street for dinner,’” she told PA news agency. “So I went on the trip, which was supposed to be just five days in Vienna, and things just went really well.”

“In a strange way, I was like, ‘Thank God I got laid off when I did,’ because it allowed us to build the foundation of our relationship before Covid hit,” Louise reflected.

In 2020, she launched her own homeware and fashion accessories brand, Studio Virgo.

Speaking about Cameron, she has described him as “very calm, very level-headed, easy-going, and someone who takes things as they come.”

She added, “He loves golf and enjoys playing with his trainer, who stays with us often—backgammon, Rubik’s Cubes, timing each other, that sort of thing. When he retires, I want to go skiing with him, but right now isn’t the right time.”

Where did Cameron Norrie come in Wimbledon 2025?

Cameron is currently ranked 27 in the men’s singles tennis charts and his most recent Wimbledon stint was this July. After making it to the quarter finals, he faced defeat against Spain’s Carlos Alcaraz, who won 6-2 6-3 6-3.

Reflecting on his defeat, Cameron said: “I think [Alcaraz] makes it look easy because he’s enjoying himself so much. He played very well today, but I wouldn’t say it was a case of me playing unreal or completely maxing out. For him, I’d rate it about an eight out of ten, and I see that level as quite repeatable. He just has so many options with his different shots.”
