Strictly Come Dancing fans have been left less than impressed over this weekend’s song and dance choices for the remaining couples.
Ahead of Week 10, the BBC has shared the routines each pair will be performing this weekend, but some viewers have become convinced one celebrity is being set up to win the series.
The show’s official Instagram account revealed that former Lioness Karen Carney and Carlos Gu will be dancing a Couple’s Choice to Lady Gaga’s Born This Way; EastEnders star Balvinder Sopal and Julian Caillon will take on a Jive to Right Back Where We Started From by Maxine Nightingale; social media personality George Clarke and Alexis War will be taking on a Quickstep to Frank Sinatra’s I Get a Kick Out of You; while actor Lewis Cope and Katya Jones take on a Rumba to Harry Styles’s Falling.
Actress Alex Kingston and Johannes Radebe will be taking on a Cha Cha to Ring My Bell by Anita Ward and finally, actress Amber Davies and Nikita Kuzmin will perform a Jive to Tina Turner’s Proud Mary.
However, fans have complained about Mr Cope’s given song, with many arguing producers seem to want the soap star to “win”.
The Emmerdale star faced some backlash after being signed up to the show due to his dance experience.
Mr Cope has been trained professionally in the past in theatre dancing, which left some claiming his participation was “unfair”.
Following the update about this weekend’s routines, one penned on Instagram: “Hm, Lewis always gets the best songs and concepts when others get songs that don’t even match the dances.”
A second echoed: “Man they really want Lewis to win don’t they.”
“Ohh they really want Lewis the trained dancer to win always giving them the best songs and dance what will work out fixed a*** show he won’t win it anyway,” another disgruntled fan shared.
Others also expressed frustration about the fact there are two couples performing a Jive despite there being only six couples remaining.
“Only 6 couples left in the competition and plenty of dances still to choose from so it’s a bit [shocking] that two are given the same dance I feel. Why not let each couple dance their own style, especially this far into the competition?” one asked.
“Two of the same style of dance with only 6 couples remaining was a choice,” another agreed.
“Two Jives seriously? Can we have different ones when we don’t have many couples left,” someone else added.
Another complained: “For the second week in a row, no slow ballroom dances whilst we have an abundance of Quickstep, Jives and other Latin,” while one more claimed: “They’ve stitched up Bal.”
Others disagreed though, with several expressing excitement following the announcement.
One such comment read: “Cannot wait for this.” (sic)
Elsewhere, this year’s Christmas Special couples have also been revealed.
Six celebrities will compete for the coveted Christmas Glitterball trophy in what also promises to be an emotional farewell for presenting duo Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman.
Former Gogglebox personality and I’m A Celebrity winner Scarlett Moffatt is set to lead the charge, partnering with professional dancer Vito Coppola.
All Saints vocalist Melanie Blatt will join the festive lineup alongside Kai Widdrington, whilst EastEnders actor Nicholas Bailey will team up with Luba Mushtuk.
Gladiators star Jodie Ounsley, known to fans as Fury, is set to bring her athletic prowess to the dancefloor with Neil Jones.
Meanwhile, former Westlife member Brian McFadden completes the musical contingent, while comedian Babatunde Aléshé rounds out the sextet, dancing with Nancy Xu.
