La Voix Says Goodbye to Strictly: ‘I Feel Like I’ve Let Aljaž Down

Strictly Come Dancing fans were left surprised and frustrated after it was announced on Saturday night that La Voix, the drag queen real name Chris Dennis, has been forced to withdraw from the competition due to a foot injury.

During Saturday’s show at the iconic Blackpool Tower Ballroom, presenter Tess Daly confirmed the news, saying: “We can confirm she has very sadly had to withdraw from the competition.” She also revealed that there would be no elimination this weekend.

The announcement sparked confusion among viewers, with many questioning why Sunday’s results show was still scheduled if no one would be leaving. Social media was flooded with comments such as:

  • “So what’s the point of Sunday’s show when everything can be done tonight?”
  • “It’s boring if no one goes. What’s the Sunday show going to be?”
  • “They’ve announced nobody will be going home this week — why waste an hour of TV?”

Despite the absence of a dance-off, fans still have reasons to tune in. Lewis Capaldi is set to perform, and former Strictly finalists Danny Mac, Jay McGuinness, Ashley Roberts, and Layton Williams will return for a group routine, revisiting some of their most memorable moments from past series.

The injury and withdrawal have stirred mixed reactions, with some viewers expressing disappointment at the disruption to the competition and questioning how the Sunday show would be filled.

Following La Voix’s departure from Strictly Come Dancing, presenters Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman are set to receive an update from the drag queen and her professional partner, Aljaž Škorjanec.

Originally given a bye to the following weekend due to a foot injury, La Voix was later informed that she would no longer be able to continue in the competition.

In a statement, the 45-year-old said: “With the guidance of the medical team and a heavy heart, I have to officially withdraw from Strictly Come Dancing. What upsets me most is feeling like I’ve let my amazing partner, Aljaž Škorjanec, down.”

She went on to express her gratitude for Aljaž’s support, adding: “I’m devastated not to be able to continue this adventure with him, but I’m endlessly thankful for everything he has given me throughout this experience.”
