Rumer Willis has shared with fans the fact that her father Bruce Willis is struggling ton recognise her but she holds hope that he is able to feel the love from her and his granddaughter.
Bruce Willis’ daughter has opened up about his dementia battle. Rumer Willis has revealed that his dementia condition has worsened to the point he doesn’t always recognise her.
The actress, 37, took to social media and posted a video where she explained the decline of her father’s health. Bruce, 70, who was married to Hollywood star Demi Moore between 1987 and 2000, has been moved out of his family home, which he shares with his current wife, Emma Heming Willis.
And this is to ensure he is given the best possible care for his condition around the clock. In her Instagram post, Rumer, who has followed in her parents’ footsteps in acting, said: “I’m so grateful that when I go over there, and I give him a hug, whether he recognises me or not, that he can feel the love I’ve given him, and I can feel it back from him. That I still see a spark of him, and he can feel the love that I’m giving.”
She added: “So that feels really nice.” When bringing over her daughter, Louetta, she continued: “I just feel grateful that I get to go over there with Luetta and we get to spend time with him, and I get to feel the love that he has for me, and that I can love him and be with him.”
A fan of the star enquired about Bruce’s health. And Rumer responded saying: “People always ask me this question, and I think it’s kind of a hard one to answer, because the truth is that anybody with FTD (frontotemporal dementia) is not doing great.’ He’s doing okay, in terms of somebody who is dealing with frontotemporal dementia.”
She added: “The only way that I feel like I could answer that in a way that was like “He’s doing great!” – you know, it’s like, those parameters don’t really work anymore I guess, in my mind.”
Earlier this year, Rumer shared a few heart-warming pictures of her and her dad from when she was younger. Rumer shared with fans that she missed her dad as she shared pictures of him with his granddaughter back in 2023 – as a Father’s Day post.
Bruce and Demi share three daughters together, including Tallulah and Scout. But Bruce has got two other kids with his current wife, Mabel and Evelyn. Bruce married Emma in 2009.
Last year, Rumor showed off images of her breastfeeding, which caused a frenzy. But in response she penned:”Breastfeeding has been one of the most joyful and bonding experiences of my life with Lou, who is still nursing at 16 months. I don’t know when we will stop but I am sure we will figure it out together.”
