Mani from Stone Roses dead: Updates as icon’s passing leaves twin boys orphaned

The Stone Roses and Primal Scream icon Gary Mounfield, known as Mani, has died aged 63, it has been announced.

Gary ‘Mani’ Mounfield, legendary bassist for the Stone Roses and Primal Scream, has died leaving his twin boys orphaned.

The rock icon’s wife Imelda passed away after a battle with cancer in 2023, aged just 52. Their children, Gene Clark and George Christopher, are believed to be around 12 years old.

Gary’s brother announced the rock icon’s death, aged 63, on social media. He said: “It is with the heaviest of hearts that I have to announce the sad passing of my brother. Gary Mani Mounfield RIP. Reunited with his beautiful wife Imelda.”
