Tragic news has struck The Chase as contestant Debbie, who faced off against Chaser Shaun Wallace, has passed away. Just a week after her episode aired on ITV, her husband shared that his “beautiful wife” lost her battle with cancer.

Tragedy has struck for The Chase as contestant Debbie has passed away, just a week after her episode aired. Her husband shared the heartbreaking news in a Facebook post, revealing that Debbie had bravely battled cancer for 17 years.
He explained that the episode was filmed around three years ago, just before lockdown, and that Debbie had first been diagnosed with breast cancer 14 years earlier. While the cancer had been in remission for several years, it later returned, spreading to her bones and brain. He described her as his “beautiful wife” and reflected on the bittersweet experience of seeing her on the show.

Debbie charmed viewers on The Chase in an episode filmed before the coronavirus pandemic, which aired as a repeat last week. She competed alongside teammates Helen and George against Shaun Wallace, known as The Dark Destroyer.
After winning £5,000 in the cash builder, Debbie was caught playfully flirting with Shaun. When he greeted her with, “Hello Debbie,” host Bradley Walsh reacted with surprise: “What was that?!”
Debbie laughed and replied, “Hello Shaun… See, I was being flirty, was I?” to which Bradley teased, “Well I don’t know about that.”
Despite the playful moment, Shaun caught Debbie, and sadly she didn’t make it through to the final round.
