The Strictly ballroom has witnessed many romances, but few as adored as the love story between Dianne Buswell and Joe Sugg — and now the couple are preparing to welcome their first baby together.
The pair, who sparked their relationship after being partnered on the show back in 2018, have revealed that they’ve already picked out a name for their baby boy — and ever since, fans have been buzzing with excitement, trying to work out what it could be.
A “Unique” Name for Their Tiny Dancer
In a YouTube video shared on October 27, Joe and Dianne announced that they’ve officially chosen a “unique” name for their baby boy — something meaningful, distinctive, and not commonly heard.
Joe, 34, teased fans by saying:
“We’ve chosen a name, but we won’t be sharing it just yet. It’s not one you come across very often — unusual, but not strange. And it has a cute shortened version too, which we love.”
Dianne, 36, joined in with her usual playful humour, joking:
“It’s not something like Apple or Pear! It’s a name that works like Joe’s — sweet for a child, but still feels grown-up later in life.”
Joe then added with a smile:
“It could even suit an athlete. I’m trying so hard not to say it out loud, but Dianne keeps accidentally calling him by it already!”
Laughing, he gave fans one more cheeky tease:
“From now on, we’ll just call him Derek.”
“We’re Over the Moon”
The couple first shared their baby news back in September, posting a sweet Instagram picture of a whiteboard doodle showing a stick-figure family — complete with a tiny baby drawn beside them and the year “2026” written above.
“Our little baby boy 💙 we cannot wait to meet you,” they captioned the post, sending fans into a frenzy of excitement as congratulations poured in.
Despite the joy, Dianne admitted she felt surprisingly anxious about telling her closest friends and family.
“It was the most nervous I’ve ever been,” she said in their video. “I kept putting it off for no reason!”
Joe agreed, adding with a laugh:
“I swear I was more nervous telling the people we know than telling the entire internet.”
A History-Making Mum on Strictly
Dianne’s pregnancy has also marked a first for Strictly Come Dancing — she’s the show’s first pregnant professional dancer to take part in a series.
This year she was paired with Neighbours icon Stefan Dennis before he sadly had to withdraw due to a calf injury.
After rumours swirled that Dianne might also step back, she quickly set the record straight:
“I keep seeing people say I shouldn’t be dancing — why? I’ve got more energy this year than last! Please respect Stefan; he’s devastated he can’t continue. We’d still be performing if he could.”
Fans praised her for her honesty and determination, calling her “inspiring” and “a powerhouse.”
