Bobby Flay is one proud dad! The celebrity chef, 60, couldn’t help but gush over his daughter Sophie Flay’s big career news this week.
On Oct. 29, Sophie, 29, announced on Instagram that she’s joining ABC News as a correspondent and anchor for World News Now and GMA First Look, based in New York City. “It’s official!! Honored to stay in the Disney/ABC family… Thank you, Los Angeles, for an amazing 11 years!” she wrote, noting her previous role as a general assignment reporter for ABC7 in Los Angeles, where she’s worked since 2019 after starting as an intern.
Bobby proudly commented on her post, “Proud as can be. Your work ethic and your desire to learn from your mentors has put you in this wonderful place of opportunity and importance. It’s a parent’s dream.”
Sophie’s post was quickly filled with congratulatory messages from Bobby’s Food Network friends and colleagues. Katie Lee Biegel responded with clapping emojis, Antonia Lofaso wrote, “You are a force,” Ayesha Nurdjaja cheered, “Congratulations!!!” and Aarti Sequeira added, “Woah!!! That’s huge!!! Congratulations Sophie!!!”
Bobby Flay has even more reason to celebrate his daughter Sophie’s new job — her move to New York City! The chef has lived in the same Manhattan apartment for more than a decade, so Sophie’s relocation from Los Angeles means the two will finally be on the same coast again.
Despite living across the country, Bobby and Sophie have always made time for each other. Just last month, they teamed up — along with Bobby’s girlfriend, chef Brooke Williamson — for an episode of Celebrity Family Feud, where they won $25,000 for charity.
The father-daughter duo also co-host a podcast together called Always Hungry, which launched in 2021 on iHeartRadio. At the time, Sophie explained, “You’ll get a peek into our relationship, and we’ll talk about things like where we get our recipes and whether or not people are still dressing up for dinner. We laugh a lot!”
