Dylan Efron Shares How Partner Daniella Karagach Broke His Nose During Dancing with the Stars Practice

On Oct. 25, the Traitors alum revealed on Instagram that his professional partner, Daniella Karagach, accidentally elbowed him in the face during a rehearsal.

Dylan Efron had a dance mishap but reassured Dancing with the Stars fans that he’ll be ready for his next performance.

The 33-year-old Traitors alum shared an Instagram post on Oct. 25 showing photos of his newly broken nose, which he suffered when his professional partner, Daniella Karagach, accidentally elbowed him during rehearsal.

“Broke my nose, but don’t need it to dance,” Dylan joked in the post. The photos showed him in an emergency room chair with an ice pack on his face.

In a video from the hospital, he explained, “It’s midnight, and I’m in the hospital because Dani broke my nose. We were trying a new move, and I took an elbow right here,” pointing to his nose. He added, “And it made a really loud crack. Not how I wanted to end rehearsal day, but we’ll be back dancing tomorrow.”

In his Instagram caption, Dylan Efron expressed gratitude to Daniella Karagach, DWTS pro Pasha Pashkov, and fellow contestant Danielle Fishel for staying by his side after his injury.

“I’m seriously all good — but I’ll never forget how Dani, Pasha, and Danielle wouldn’t leave my side when it happened. It warms my heart to have friends like them ❤️,” he wrote.

Other Dancing with the Stars pros and contestants also shared messages of support. Val Chmerkovskiy commented, “Oh em gee,” while Mark Ballas added, “I hope you’re OK brother. Sending you love.” Emma Slater wrote, “WHAT?!! @dylanefron hope you’re OK,” and Robert Irwin said, “What!!!!! Feel better mate.” Survivor alum “Boston” Rob Mariano jokingly teased, “Keep him in line @daniellakaragach.”

Meanwhile, last week’s episode featured Dylan dancing with his younger sister, Olivia, for Dedication Night.

As a tribute to their brother Zac Efron, Dylan and his sister Olivia teamed up to dance to “Rewrite the Stars” from The Greatest Showman—the song originally performed by Zac and Zendaya. The siblings twirled onstage before pro Daniella Karagach joined to complete the contemporary routine.

Their performance earned 36/40 from the judges, along with glowing feedback. Carrie Ann Inaba called Olivia “incredible” and said Dylan “made her night,” while Bruno Tonioli praised Olivia’s perfectly pointed toes.

Reflecting on the experience, Dylan told PEOPLE, “When I first asked Olivia if she would do this with me, she buried her head in my chest and said, ‘No, there’s no way.’ By week two, she agreed and faced the challenge without fear.”

Next, Dylan will perform on DWTS for Halloween Week, dancing a Viennese Waltz to “Can’t Help Falling in Love (DARK),” a cover of the Elvis Presley classic by Tommee Profitt and Brooke.

DWTS airs Tuesdays at 8 p.m. ET on ABC and Disney+.
