Bake Off Star Laura Adlington Celebrates Birth of First Child After Nearly a Decade of Fertility Struggles

In April, the baker revealed she was expecting her first child.

Laura Adlington is now officially a mom!

The Great British Baking Show finalist from 2020 welcomed her first child with her husband, Matt, and shared the joyful news on Instagram. In a heartfelt hospital photo, Laura posed alongside Matt and their newborn son.

She wrote, “After 9 years of wishing and 9 months of waiting, our little miracle is finally here, safe in our arms. Everyone, meet George 💙✨.”

Laura also introduced her son to her supportive community, saying, “George, meet this community of amazing women who have championed you long before you arrived. We’re all doing really well and happily soaking up the newborn bubble for a while.”

She added a note of gratitude: “I just wanted to let you know that he’s here and to thank you from the bottom of my heart for all the love and support. I’ve felt it every step of the way.”

In a heartfelt Instagram post in June, Laura Adlington shared that she and her husband had been trying to conceive for nine years.

She recounted a sweet memory from early on in their journey: shortly after coming off the pill, they visited Tesco for a family picnic, and Laura picked out a tiny baby outfit. Excited, she asked Matt if they should buy it, and though he laughed, he agreed.

Laura reflected on the long, emotional road that followed—months and years of negative pregnancy tests, tears, and heartbreak. One of the hardest parts was seeing others in her life get pregnant, and there were moments they considered giving away that little outfit.

“Three house moves and nearly a decade later, this tiny outfit has quietly stayed with us,” she wrote. “It’s been tucked away in drawers or corners, only occasionally found during spring cleaning, when I’d hold it close, hoping that one day our baby might wear it.”

Earlier this year, Laura shared that her long-held prayers had finally been answered—they were expecting a baby boy.

She first announced her pregnancy in April, writing, “After 9 years of infertility, we are very excited (and still a bit in shock) to be expecting our little IVF miracle in October ✨.”

Laura reflected on the difficult and often lonely journey to this point, noting that she and her husband had accepted that parenthood might not happen for them. About a year and a half ago, they decided to try IVF quietly, to avoid added pressure. After one unsuccessful round and another that was canceled, they received the joyful news a few months ago that she was finally pregnant.
