Jacob Elordi channels iconic Tom Cruise character in new Netflix horror film

Netflix has shared a new image of Euphoria star Jacob Elordi, and he looks completely transformed.

Netflix fans are comparing Jacob Elordi to a classic Tom Cruise character after the streamer shared a new image from his upcoming horror film.

Rising to fame through The Kissing Booth and HBO’s Euphoria, Elordi has since impressed audiences in films like Priscilla and Saltburn.

The 28-year-old now stars in Guillermo del Toro’s Netflix adaptation of Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein, playing the creature opposite Oscar Isaac as Victor Frankenstein.

While Frankenstein hit cinemas on Friday, October 24, Netflix subscribers will have to wait until Friday, November 7, for its streaming debut.

A recently released photo shows Elordi fully transformed in Frankenstein makeup, leaving fans shocked at his dramatic new look.

Sharing the image on X (formerly Twitter), Netflix wrote: “Jacob Elordi as The Creature. Frankenstein, a film by Guillermo del Toro, now playing in select theaters and on Netflix November 7.”

Fans reacted with amazement. One said, “Wow! Did not even recognize him! Jacob Elordi.” Another added, “He is going to be terrifying and amazing,” while a third wrote, “That casting is wild—Jacob Elordi as The Creature?”

Others praised del Toro’s adaptation, commenting, “Del Toro’s version is already giving epic vibes—can’t wait to see his take on the iconic monster!”

Some viewers, however, criticised Netflix for making Frankenstein’s creature appear “sexy” through this casting choice.

Fans had mixed reactions to Jacob Elordi’s look as Frankenstein’s creature.

One wrote, “Of course they have to make him kinda sexy to get the female viewer,” while another said, “Excellent make-up. He is both hideous but attractive, perfect for a gothic romance.”

Comments ranged from humorous to admiring: “Jacob as The Creature? I’m ready for a monster under my bed vibe,” and “Death never looked so good,” with one simply noting, “He’s still hot though.”

Some viewers also compared him to Tom Cruise, with one fan saying, “His look reminds me of the decaying Tom Cruise as Lestat in Interview with the Vampire.”

A Netflix subscriber concurred: “Tom Cruise did it first”, sharing an image of Cruise dressed up as the vampire in question.
