Corriedale: The first characters revealed for the Coronation Street and Emmerdale crossover have been announced

The first two characters confirmed for the highly anticipated Coronation Street and Emmerdale crossover special, titled Corriedale, have been revealed.

ITV has announced that Coronation Street’s DS Lisa Swain (played by Vicky Myers) and Emmerdale’s Aaron Dingle (played by Danny Miller) will both appear in the one-hour special, set to air in January. However, details about how the two characters will cross paths remain under wraps.

Currently, Lisa Swain’s storyline in Coronation Street has taken a dramatic turn following the shocking return of her presumed-dead ex-wife, Becky. Fans suspect Becky may be hiding a darker side that’s yet to be fully uncovered.

Meanwhile, over in Emmerdale, Aaron Dingle has recently dealt with the aftermath of his ex-husband and killer, John Sugden. Just as his relationship with Robert Sugden seemed to be back on track, Robert’s secret prison husband, Kev, suddenly appeared throwing Aaron’s life into chaos once again. It’s clear that neither character is headed for an easy ride as the crossover approaches.

More characters are expected to join the Corriedale crossover in future episodes, though details are being kept strictly under wraps for now. Viewers, however, have been promised explosive moments, tense drama, and unique interactions between some of Britain’s most beloved soap characters — unlike anything seen before.

Vicky Myers, who plays DS Lisa Swain, expressed her excitement about taking part in the groundbreaking special, calling it “unique, bold, innovative, and history-making,” especially as it’s being filmed during Coronation Street’s 65th year.

She said that after reading the script, she was amazed by how the two soap worlds come together, the unexpected character connections, and the lasting consequences of the night’s events describing it all as “unmissable.”

Myers added that the project has been in development for quite some time and praised the hard work of the teams behind both Coronation Street and Emmerdale. She shared her enthusiasm about collaborating with new people both on and off screen, saying the atmosphere has been fantastic. “It’s going to be epic,” she concluded.

Corriedale is set to air early next year on ITV, STV, ITVX, and YouTube. The special will mark the launch of a new “soap power hour” schedule, with Emmerdale airing at 8 p.m. followed by Coronation Street at 8:30 p.m. each weekday.

Danny Miller, who plays Aaron Dingle, shared his excitement about being part of the crossover, saying he was “thrilled” to have Aaron included in Corriedale. Growing up in Manchester, he said Coronation Street was just as iconic in his home as Emmerdale, making the crossover especially meaningful for him.

He described the night shoots as intense but enjoyable, despite balancing filming with family life, and said it’s been fantastic working with the Coronation Street team. Miller added that he can’t wait to see how the storylines from both soaps intertwine on screen, calling the special “epic” and “a dream come true for soap fans.”
