Lucy Fallon Hits Back at Claims She Spoiled a Major Coronation Street Storyline

Coronation Street star Lucy Fallon has made it clear that she didn’t accidentally let slip the news about her co-star Amy Cudden’s casting.

The 29-year-old actress recently returned to her iconic role as Bethany Platt, marking her comeback to the ITV soap after taking most of the year off for maternity leave. Lucy is now a proud mum of two, having welcomed her baby daughter, Nancy Margaret, earlier this year.

Before stepping away, Lucy had been back on the cobbles for just a year, during which she became involved in several major storylines that kept Coronation Street fans hooked.

Bethany wasted no time reconnecting with Daniel Osbourne (Rob Mallard) after her return to Weatherfield, but her fresh start soon took a dark turn when she unexpectedly came face to face with her former abuser, Nathan Curtis (Christopher Parker), following his release from prison.

Later in the year, Bethany became the focus of another major storyline when she underwent cosmetic surgery in Turkey a plot that was first revealed exclusively by Metro.

Tragically, the procedure went wrong, leaving her fighting for her life after developing sepsis. The complications meant she was fitted with a permanent stoma bag, forcing her to confront a deeply personal and emotional new chapter.

On Christmas Day, Daniel proposed to Bethany, and she happily said yes unaware that his ex, Daisy Midgeley (Charlotte Jordan), had just discovered she was pregnant.

Amid the tension and drama, Bethany decided to pursue a new opportunity in London, ultimately leaving without Daniel.

By July, Lucy Fallon confirmed she had returned to the set, filming new episodes of Coronation Street.

Lucy Fallon ‘leaks’ Amy Cudden’s name

It came as little surprise to Coronation Street fans that Lisa Swain (Vicky Myers) and Carla Connor (Alison King) would see their lives thrown into chaos with the anticipated return of Lisa’s supposedly “dead” wife, Becky.

This twist is classic soap territory a character thought to be gone suddenly reappears, often living under witness protection or hiding a secret life.

Speculation among fans intensified when Lucy Fallon appeared to confirm that an actress named Amy Cudden, who plays Becky, would be joining the show, sparking even more excitement about the looming drama.

On her first day back on set, Lucy Fallon shared a dressing room selfie with the caption: “And just like that, she’s back.” In the background, a mirror surrounded by lightbulbs displayed the name Amy, hinting at the character’s arrival.

Now that Amy’s role has officially been confirmed, Lucy has responded to the speculation surrounding the post.

Oh my god, yeah. Someone tagged me in a social post saying, ‘Lucy Fallon comes back after having a baby and leaks the biggest storyline in Corrie,’” she told The Sun.

“I was like, ‘What the hell are they talking about? What have I done?’ But honestly, nobody would have known what character that name belonged to it wasn’t even a spoiler at that point.”

Still, despite her explanation, the post certainly fueled fan theories and speculation.

How did Bethany return to Coronation Street?

True to form, Bethany found herself in hot water when she was hauled in for questioning by Kit Green (Jacob Roberts), who was stunned to learn she had been accused of stealing her boss’s car.

Bethany attempted to defend herself, insisting that her manager owned so many vehicles that she wouldn’t have noticed one was missing.

Fortunately, Kit managed to get Bethany off the hook, and the pair agreed to keep the incident a secret from her mum, Sarah (Tina O’Brien).

Back in the area, Bethany also found time to catch up with Daniel. In a brutally honest moment, she told him she wouldn’t go near him again, even if he were the last man on Earth.

To her surprise, Daniel agreed, explaining that he only wanted to buy her a drink as an apology for the pain he had caused.
