Thomas Skinner reveals unexpected plans with Amy Dowden following his heartbreaking Strictly Come Dancing exit

Thomas Skinner has returned to his day job after being voted off of Strictly Come Dancing – but admitted in a video to fans that he’s made future dancing plans with Amy Dowden.

Thomas Skinner has shared his future plans with Strictly Come Dancing professional Amy Dowden following his elimination from the show. The former Apprentice star, 34, was the first contestant to leave the 2025 series after facing rugby player Chris Robshaw in the bottom two.

Despite giving it his all with a Salsa to Dizzee Rascal and Armand van Helden’s “Bonkers,” the judges chose to save Chris and his partner Nadiya Bychkova. Thomas and Amy had scored 16 points that week for their Viennese waltz to Lady Gaga and Bruno Mars’ “Die with a Smile,” falling just three points behind their rivals.

Thomas Skinner shared on X that he was still “gutted” about leaving Strictly Come Dancing, after filming his final It Takes Two interview with partner Amy Dowden.

Posting cheerfully, he wrote, “Happy Tuesday, you lovely people! Back where I belong, in my trusty Ford Transit van! Been up early, grafting away. Picked up a cracking parcel of men’s designer jumpers this morning, stopped by my local pub and sold a load already!”

He went on to reflect on his time on the show, saying, “Absolutely gutted not to still be on Strictly, but what an amazing experience it was. Met the incredible Amy Dowden and my whole family loves her. She’s an inspirational woman and a proper diamond.”

He added: “We filmed our last It Takes Two last night, then went out for a bite to eat and promised each other we’re not stopping dancing!”

He revealed that he’s planned to continue lessons with Amy, writing: “I’m definitely getting a few more lessons in. Have a brilliant day everyone. keep smiling and keep going. Don’t go home until ya Proud Bosh.”

While he repeated the message in the post’s video, he also said: “Amy Dowden is actually probably one of the nicest people I’ve ever met in my life. My family lover her, my wife loves her, my kids love her.

Thomas Skinner revealed that he and Amy Dowden have agreed to keep dancing together, joking that he still needs “a few more lessons” and saying he’s excited to continue. He wished fans a great day, adding, “I want to get out there, let’s duck and dive.”

Following his elimination on Sunday, Tom reflected on his Strictly Come Dancing journey, saying he loved the experience despite his early exit. “I’ve never danced before and my stay was short, but Amy’s amazing. It’s been great fun and I’ve enjoyed it,” he shared. He added with a laugh, “I can’t really dance that well but I’ve had fun! Thank you, Amy sorry we didn’t do better, you’re a different class.”

Amy Dowden shared heartfelt words about her Strictly Come Dancing partner Thomas Skinner, saying she got to know “the real Tom” during their time together and describing him as “adorable.” She admitted that while winning the glitterball trophy would have been wonderful, her perspective has changed over the past few years. “What I’ve learnt is that happiness, health, and being alive are more important than anything,” she said.

Amy added that she’s made “a new friend for life” and wouldn’t change a thing about their experience. She also confessed she was disappointed Tom didn’t get the chance to try ballroom, as she saw real potential in him. Reflecting on her own struggles, she shared, “The last three years have been quite difficult for me. I lost all confidence as a dancer but walking into the room with you, with your massive smile and laugh, you brought me back. Honestly, thank you.”
