Jimmy Fallon’s band, The Roots, grew impatient and interrupted his opening monologue just minutes in, insisting he bring out his first guest, Taylor Swift — which Fallon did.
Swift made her seventh appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on Monday, October 6, 2025, just three days after releasing her 12th studio album, The Life of a Showgirl.
During the interview, Fallon asked Swift about her new album, her engagement to Travis Kelce, and more. Among the most surprising revelations, Swift shared that she had kept the album a secret for a year:
“This was sort of a surprise and a secret that I had been carrying for about a year,” she told Fallon. “I was so excited. It’s like having a really great Christmas present for your brother and holding onto it for a whole year.”
Swift shared her excitement about her new album, saying she feels thrilled that her fans have finally “opened her present” and are now enjoying it.
Swift’s Engagement Ring
She showed off her engagement ring to Jimmy Fallon, explaining that Travis Kelce had actually had it for a while before proposing. “He custom-designed it with an incredible jeweler. I look at it constantly. It doesn’t feel normal for me — he’s just my favorite person I’ve ever met, no offense to anyone else,” she said.
The Proposal
Swift revealed that Kelce proposed right after she recorded the New Heights podcast with Jason and Travis Kelce, which aired on August 13. She joked that the podcast acted as a distraction so she wouldn’t notice him preparing the proposal.
“He was walking around nervous — I’ve never seen this dude nervous — and asked if I wanted to take a walk in the backyard and have a glass of wine. Of course I said yes,” she recounted. Fallon then showed one of the engagement photos that Swift posted on Instagram when the news went public on August 26.
Ed Sheeran’s Reaction
Fallon mentioned several rumors about Swift, and she confirmed that one was true: her best friend Ed Sheeran learned about her engagement on Instagram, just like everyone else. “He doesn’t have a phone. I realized I hadn’t called him, but honestly, he wasn’t reachable anyway,” Swift said, calling Sheeran one of her favorite people on the planet.
Bread Obsession
Swift revealed that she’s currently obsessed with bread, so much so that she can’t stop talking about it.
“I’ve become the most annoying person anyone knows when it comes to bread,” she admitted. “I have these baking or cooking obsessions, and whatever I’m into at the moment becomes my entire personality. I actually have to stop myself from talking about bread at parties.”
