Seven revamps afternoon quiz block, expanding schedule with Blankety Blank and Bridge of Lies

Your afternoons are getting an upgrade: Channel Seven is shaking up its afternoon schedule with a brand-new lineup of game shows and news.

Channel Seven is giving its afternoons a refresh with a new lineup of game shows and news.

Starting at 1 pm, Winning Arvo will feature the UK quiz shows Blankety Blank and Bridge of Lies, alongside fan favourites The Chase UK and The Chase Australia. Hourly news updates will be delivered by journalist Alex Cullen throughout the weekday afternoons.

“From Monday, 22 September, Seven’s new Winning Arvo will bring viewers the biggest game show hits of the day along with the latest breaking news from 7NEWS,” the network said.

“Weekdays from 1 pm on Seven and 7plus, Winning Arvo will offer a mix of top game shows and daily prizes for viewers who enjoy playing along,” the network said.

Blankety Blank is a British quiz show hosted by Bradley Walsh, updated from the original version that aired in the UK during the 1970s and 1980s.

Bridge of Lies is a brand-new format, hosted by British star Ross Kemp. Contestants must navigate a bridge by using knowledge, strategy, and a bit of luck to spot the lies along the way.

At the start of each hour, viewers can catch extended live news updates from Australia and around the world, presented by journalist Alex Cullen, who returned to Seven earlier this year.

“I’m so excited to be back at Seven and to guide viewers through the afternoon with something entirely new,” Cullen said. “We’re making afternoons fun while also delivering the news that matters.”

Seven Programming Director Aaron Howison described Winning Arvo as “an evolution in afternoon television — a thrilling mix of high-stakes game shows and Australia’s top news service. This supercharged lineup offers a fresh, fast-paced viewing experience.”

The new afternoon lineup:

  • 1.00 pm – 7NEWS with Alex Cullen: Get the latest breaking news from across Australia and the world.
  • 1.10 pm – Blankety Blank: Hosted by Bradley Walsh, Britain’s iconic game show returns with celebrity panels helping contestants win the coveted chequebook and pen.
