This year’s fan favourite MAFS bride has flaunted her recent weight loss in a swimsuit photo, having embarked on a health journey after the show.

This year’s Married At First Sight Australia star Katie Johnston has flaunted her recent weight loss in a swimsuit photo.
The 37-year-old became a fast favourite on the 2025 season, after she was brutally rejected by her TV ‘husband’ Tim Gromie on their wedding day, in which he said he preferred “petite” women.
Flash forward almost a year since filming on the Nine series began and Katie has dropped more than 26kg, sharing a photo to Instagram this week of herself in a leopard-print one-piece.

In an interview with Woman’s Day on Monday, Katie revealed that she began focusing on her physical health following the painful experience on the show.

“I’d let myself gain a lot of weight because I didn’t want to appear desirable to others,” Katie explained.
“Your guard is always up, waiting for the smallest comment to trigger that old cycle, but it came at the cost of my health. I knew I was overweight — it was obvious. I was obese, let’s call it what it is. But a scan revealed my visceral fat levels were dangerously high, which basically means a risk of early death. That was the wake-up call I needed to take this journey seriously.”

Alongside her swimsuit photo, Katie shared with her 100,000+ followers that she feels healthier than ever, despite her “flaws.”
“I still have cellulite, stretch marks, scars, and probably other imperfections,” she wrote. “But flaws don’t matter when your insides are healthy. I’m strong, flexible, and fit — that’s far more important than what anyone else sees.”

Katie exited MAFS early in the season, explaining that Tim was behaving as if he “didn’t get what he ordered” and had been avoiding her since the start of the experiment.
