The mystery star is none other than Lainie Kazan, now 85 years old. Beloved for her role as the tough-yet-loving matriarch Maria in the 2002 smash hit My Big Fat Greek Wedding, Kazan became a fan favorite in the franchise that later spawned two sequels.
This week, she was spotted in Los Angeles being assisted into a wheelchair. She wore a leopard-print blouse paired with a shawl, accessorized with dangling gold earrings and chic sunglasses.
My Big Fat Greek Wedding, which told the story of Toula Portokalos’s search for love, became an unexpected box office phenomenon, grossing an astonishing £296 million worldwide on just a £4 million budget.
The cast, including Lainie, reunited for the third installment in 2023.
