Dianne Buswell Makes History as First Pregnant Pro to Dance on Strictly Come Dancing

Dianne Buswell has made history as the first pregnant professional dancer to compete on Strictly Come Dancing. The Australian-born dancer, known for her vibrant performances and winning the 2024 series with comedian Chris McCausland, announced her pregnancy earlier this month.

She is expecting her first child with fellow Strictly star Joe Sugg.

During the 2025 launch show, Buswell and McCausland reprised their award-winning waltz to “You’ll Never Walk Alone,” a performance that earned them a perfect score and the BAFTA TV Memorable Moment Award earlier this year.

In newly released images from the show, Buswell is seen gracefully dancing in a blue gown that accentuates her baby bump, symbolizing a poignant moment in her career.

The 2025 season of Strictly Come Dancing has introduced a refreshed roster of professional dancers, with Buswell making history as the first pregnant professional to compete on the show.

This season also features new professionals Alexis Warr and Julian Caillon, bringing fresh energy to the lineup.

The season officially kicked off on September 20, 2025, with the launch show revealing the celebrity-pro pairings and setting the stage for another exciting series.

Buswell’s participation in the 2025 season marks a significant milestone in Strictly history, reflecting both her dedication to her craft and the show’s evolving inclusivity.
