Shaun White and Nina Dobrev have called it quits, ending their engagement after five years.

Shaun White and Nina Dobrev have decided to part ways.
The couple, who had been together for five years, ended their relationship nearly a year after Shaun proposed to the Vampire Diaries star. According to People, who first reported the news, the split was mutual and difficult, but made with “love and deep respect.”
The source has reached out to representatives for both stars for comment.
Shaun proposed last October in a memorable candlelit setting. Known for pulling off daring stunts on the half-pipe, he used a different kind of trick to pop the question: he sent Nina a fake invitation to a dinner with Anna Wintour. When she arrived, expecting a high-profile event, she instead found Shaun waiting on one knee.
Nina later shared with Vogue that the invite looked so real, she panicked at the thought of keeping Anna Wintour waiting.
Shaun White and Nina Dobrev shared their engagement with fans on Instagram, posting candid photos along with a close-up of her sparkling ring. Shaun, 38, captioned his October 30 announcement, “She said yes,” while Nina, 36, playfully wrote on her own post, “RIP Boyfriend, hello fiancé.”
The couple, first linked in 2019, made their relationship official while quarantining together during the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020. Since then, they had been a steady source of love and support for each other.

When Nina suffered a serious knee injury in 2024 from a biking accident, which required hospitalization and months of rehab, Shaun stayed by her side throughout her recovery.
Their support for each other was mutual. In 2022, when Shaun retired from professional snowboarding after competing in his final Olympics in Beijing, Nina was there as his biggest supporter. Shaun shared that, since his family and friends couldn’t attend, Nina surprised him with a heartfelt video compilation of loved ones sending encouragement a gesture he said set the tone for the entire trip.
For Shaun, looking toward the future always meant having Nina in it.

Shaun reflected on his next chapter, sharing that life with Nina was in a great place. “Things are great with Nina and I,” he said, adding that he was eager to devote more time to their relationship as well as to friends and family.
“These are the moments,” he continued. “You can have all the glitz and glam, but what really matters is quality time with the people you love and that’s what I’m focusing on now.”
