Jennifer Aniston is now the proud owner of two adopted dogs, Clyde and Lord Chesterfield.

Jennifer Aniston recently shared the story of how her first rescue dog, Norman, inspired her to adopt him after his “stubborn” cameo on Friends.
On the Sept. 10 episode of The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, the 56-year-old Morning Show star gushed about her two current rescue dogs, Lord Chesterfield and Clyde, before reflecting on Norman, who passed away in 2011. She revealed she even has a tattoo of his name on her foot.

Aniston explained that she first met Norman when he appeared in a single Friends episode: “The one where Joey and Chandler babysit Ross’ baby, Ben, and they lose the baby. They left the baby on a bus. They’re running through New York City streets, trying to find the bus, and you know how New York has these wonderful dog walkers with 20 dogs on leashes. Norman was one of those dogs,” she recounted.
Aniston recalled approaching the animal trainer on set and saying, “If there’s ever a dog you want to give up for adoption, or a dog that is available for adoption, I’m looking.”
To her surprise, the trainer replied, “We do actually have a dog we are going to retire because he’s very stubborn, he doesn’t do what we tell him, and he never hits his mark.”
That stubborn dog was Norman, who turned out to be a perfect pet despite his struggles in show business.
“I retired him and he became mine,” Aniston said.
Aniston and Colbert then discussed her upcoming cookbook, Cook with Clydeo: A Cookbook for Kids, which was inspired by her dog Clyde.
“The cookbook is full of recipes that are fun for parents to make with their children,” she explained.

“They’re very simple: little enchilada cups are in there, banana pancakes are in there,” Aniston added.
Cook with Clydeo: A Cookbook for Kids is available on bookshelves now. According to HarperCollins, it will be followed later this year by Clydeo Versus Peanut Butter and then Clydeo Makes a Friend in winter 2026.
