Julia Roberts knows exactly who she’d want by her side for the perfect night out.
The 57-year-old actress is the cover star for the first issue of 72 Magazine, set to hit newsstands on September 12. In a behind-the-scenes video from her cover shoot, Roberts was asked by Edward Enninful, co-founder and chief creative officer of EE72, which seven people she would invite for an ideal evening.
She started with her husband, Danny Moder, whom she married in 2002 and with whom she has three children. Then, somewhat unexpectedly, she named Jesus as her second choice.
The rest of her dream guest list includes music legend Joni Mitchell, writer Virginia Woolf, musician Van Morrison, her high school best friend Paige, and Enninful himself.

When asked about her longtime friend Paige, Julia Roberts shared that Paige is the godmother to her daughter Hazel. “She’s amazing,” Roberts said of her childhood friend. “We’ve been close since we were about 15.”
Next, Enninful asked Roberts what two questions she would want to ask her group of seven guests during their ideal night out.
Julia Roberts joked that her first question to the group would be, “What do you think about me?” — adding with a laugh that the idea made her a little nauseous just saying it.
Then, sharing the real questions she’d ask, Roberts said she’d want to know, “What has been the most fulfilling aspect of your life?” followed by the quirky icebreaker, “Does anybody here like beans on toast?”

Julia Roberts’ cover shoot for the first issue of 72 Magazine took place in London, with photography by Craig McDean. Styled by Elizabeth Stewart, Roberts wore designs by Phoebe Philo and jewelry from Tiffany & Co.
Her interview for the magazine was conducted by longtime friend and collaborator George Clooney. The two have appeared together in five films, including Ocean’s Eleven (2001), Confessions of a Dangerous Mind (2002), Ocean’s Twelve (2004), Money Monster (2016), and Ticket to Paradise (2022).
Edward Enninful described launching 72 Magazine with Julia Roberts as a deliberate choice that reflects the company’s vision: to create a media platform that honors both iconic figures and rising talents.
“Having collaborated with Julia for many years, I’ve seen firsthand her remarkable ability to resonate with audiences across different generations and cultures,” said the former British Vogue editor-in-chief. “Her involvement in our first two projects—72 Magazine and our digital platform—perfectly embodies our mission: to celebrate those who have shaped creative industries while uplifting the next wave of voices whose stories deserve global recognition.”
72 Magazine, along with EE72’s immersive digital platform, will launch on September 12.
