Coronation Street’s Claire Sweeney recently shared an emotional social media post declaring her love for a co-star.
Since joining the show in 2023 as Cassie Plummer, Tyrone Dobbs’ (Alan Halsall) estranged mother, she quickly made an impact on Weatherfield and has become a fan-favorite among viewers.

Lately, Coronation Street has been packed with intense storylines, including the Platt family’s house fire and the tragic death of Craig Tinker. One of the most central and emotional plots continues to be Debbie Webster’s struggle with a dementia diagnosis.
Earlier this year, Debbie Webster, played wonderfully by Sue Devaney, went through several tests to check for dementia. She had been worried about her memory lapses and errors at work. Sadly, in a heartbreaking moment, Debbie learned that her condition is incurable and that it will eventually lead to her death.
Debbie had a hard time accepting her diagnosis and kept it to herself at first. Eventually, she opened up to her half-brother Carl (Jonathan Howard) after distancing herself from her fiancé Ronnie Bailey (Vinta Morgan).
She decided to call off their engagement, but recently, they’ve reunited, with Ronnie determined to stand by Debbie and support her through her journey.
Coronation Street’s official Instagram recently posted a heartfelt clip of Debbie’s emotional monologue, encouraging fans to support Sue Devaney, who’s been nominated for this year’s National Television Awards. The post quickly gained thousands of likes, with many fellow Corrie stars commenting to send their love and support.

The Instagram post was captioned: “She’s a superstar, and she is breaking the nation’s hearts with this storyline. Vote now for the phenomenal Sue Devaney at this year’s National Television Awards. Be quick, time is running out!”
In the comments, Claire Sweeney (Cassie Plummer) expressed her love for Sue, saying, “I love you @suedevaney13 fabulous in every way xxx.” Sally Carman (Abi Webster) also praised her, calling Sue an “absolute powerhouse” and expressing her admiration.
The post received likes from several other Coronation Street stars, including Jack P Shepherd (David Platt), Lucy Fallon (Bethany Platt), Sally Dynevor (Sally Metcalfe), Catherine Tyldesley (Eva Price), and Daniel Brocklebank (Billy Mayhew).
Coronation Street fans have been vocal in their support for Sue Devaney on Instagram. One admirer called her “totally amazing” and their clear winner, while another praised her as an “absolute powerhouse” who had their full vote.
Others applauded both Sue’s acting and the character of Debbie, calling her “the best of Corrie in recent years.” Some viewers connected personally to the storyline, with one sharing how it deeply resonated due to caring for a grandmother with Alzheimer’s, and praised Sue’s phenomenal performance.

Debbie first appeared on the show in 1984 as Kevin’s sister, originally played by Michael Le Vell. After leaving in 1985, she made a dramatic return in 2019, took over the Chariot Square hotel, and has since become a favorite among viewers.
Over the coming months, Debbie’s story will focus on her health journey as she faces the reality of her dementia diagnosis and its impact on her and her family.
The show’s producers are collaborating closely with Dementia UK to portray young onset dementia authentically, highlighting its effects on Debbie and her loved ones.
You can watch Coronation Street on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays at 8pm on ITV1 and ITVX.
