Emily Blunt shines in a strapless gown while sharing a playful moment with The Rock at The Smashing Machine premiere in Venice

Emily Blunt wowed at The Smashing Machine premiere during the 82nd Venice Film Festival on Monday, wearing a glamorous strapless floor-length gown that highlighted her figure.

The 42-year-old actress completed her look with platform dust-pink heels and striking silver drop earrings.

Emily styled her dark hair in neat waves pulled back from her face as she smiled for cameras on the star-studded red carpet.

She was joined by her co-star Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, who looked sharp in a grey suit and white open-collar shirt. The two appeared happy to reunite, waving to fans and posing together at the premiere.

The biopic tells the story of former amateur wrestler and MMA fighter Mark Kerr, played by Dwayne Johnson, with Emily Blunt portraying his then-wife, Dawn Staples, a recovering alcoholic from Arizona who married Mark in Las Vegas.

At the event, model Maria Borges impressed in a halterneck dress with a black draped skirt, while Brazilian model Sofia Resing turned heads in a sheer black strapless gown adorned with jeweled details, paired with black stilettos and diamond jewelry. Singer and actress Halsey also wowed in a bold yellow halterneck dress.

Earlier that day, Emily and Dwayne promoted the film during a festival panel. Dwayne spoke about Hollywood’s focus on box office success, explaining how it can pigeonhole actors, but emphasized their passion for this project.

The Smashing Machine, set to release on October 3, is based on John Hyams’ 2002 HBO documentary that chronicled Kerr’s career as well as his struggles with substance abuse, hospitalization in 1999, and rehab.

In her role as Dawn, Mark’s then-wife, Emily Blunt portrays her struggle with Mark’s painful injuries, which leads Dawn to take painkillers to cope.

In the latest issue of PORTER Magazine, Emily discussed the challenges of playing real people in films and her commitment to honoring their stories.

She said, “You know you’re going to have to rip your ribcage open on something like this… and the other fear is that these people are still living, and you’re holding the beating hearts of their lives on a screen… You just want to do right by these people who have lived through a lot.”

The movie was filmed across Vancouver, Los Angeles, New Mexico, and Tokyo. Dwayne Johnson not only stars in but also produced The Smashing Machine.

The film is the solo directorial debut of Benny, a three-time Independent Spirit Award winner.
