Gogglebox stars Dave and Shirley have shared their plans for the future on the show, marking ten years since their debut, following their recent unexpected axing that left fans heartbroken.
The couple joined the Channel 4 program in 2015 during its sixth series and quickly became fan favorites, thanks to their witty banter and hilarious takes on the TV shows they watch.
The 25th series of Gogglebox wrapped up in May this year, leaving fans eager for its return on Friday nights.
Dave and Shirley, from Caerphilly in Wales, are currently enjoying a holiday and shared a snap from their travels on Instagram. While many followers flooded the comments with love, one fan asked, “When are you starting filming for Gogglebox again?”
Many fans will be thrilled to hear that Dave and Shirley will be back on our screens soon.
In response to a fan’s question about filming, they replied, “End of August mate, won’t be long.”
Other followers flooded the comments with praise, writing, “Love the photo of you both, can’t wait to see you back on TV. Luvya lots,” and “Lovely photo of you both, love you two on Gogglebox, you make me smile.”
Just last month, another popular Gogglebox duo, Roisin and Joe, announced they were axed from the show in an emotional TikTok post, leaving viewers heartbroken.
Roisin shared, “After three and a half years of sitting on the sofa, Channel 4 have decided it’s time for Joe and I to stretch our legs and have not asked us back for season 26. Therefore, we are leaving the Gogglebox family.”
Roisin and Joe expressed their deep gratitude to Studio Lambert, saying, “We couldn’t be more grateful for the opportunity. The experience has been so mad, and we will miss watching TV with you all on Friday nights!”
They also reflected on their time as one of the first Scottish families on the show, proudly adding, “It’s been an honor to represent Scotland and prove we don’t actually need subtitles.”
Roisin took a moment to thank the crew, saying, “A special shout-out to our crew, past and present—Jason, Ayse, Rich, Eilish, Ewan, Evie, Seve, David, Stef, AJ, and Odin. Also to Harriet for always answering the phone, no matter the time of day or night.”
She concluded with, “We have made friends for life, and after filming every week for years, you’ve become like our family. We could not have asked for better people to work with, and we will miss you immensely.”
Roisin and Joe finished their farewell message with heartfelt gratitude: “A huge thank you to everyone who has watched us, met us, and supported us during this experience. It’s definitely been a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. Time to watch TV in silence for a bit and put down the popcorn. Miss you already, Roisin and Joe.”
Since Gogglebox first aired in 2013, it has had 25 series and seven celebrity seasons. While a specific date for the next season hasn’t been confirmed yet, it’s expected to air in September or October, as is customary for the show.
