Helen Flanagan gets emotional as she opens up about the challenges of co-parenting and battling anxiety

The ex-Coronation Street star has three children Matilda, nine, Delilah, six, and Charlie, three with her former fiancé, former footballer Scott Sinclair.

In an emotional Instagram video, Helen, 35, revealed that her kids spent half of their summer holidays with their dad.

She explained that the children would first visit her parents’ house before heading to their father’s.

Fighting back tears, Helen admitted, “I’m just on my way to my mum and dad’s now. I’ve asked them to pick up the kids, but it’s really tough because I don’t want them to leave. I honestly hate co-parenting — I really struggle with it.

“I find it hard when they go away unless I have something to keep me busy.”

Helen opened up about the struggle, saying, “It’s really hard. I made a tough decision…”

Despite the challenges of being apart from her children, she acknowledged that some time alone could be good for her.

She explained, “I’ve been dealing with bad anxiety lately because I rarely get a moment to myself — I’m always with the kids. It’s a double-edged sword. When they’re away, I want them back, but when I’m with them all the time, I feel overwhelmed.”

Helen shared more about her emotional struggles, saying she planned to stop crying but believes it’s healthy to let it out. She’s been dealing with bad anxiety lately and hopes that some time to exercise, catch up with friends, get enough sleep, and do things she can’t usually do when with her kids will help.

She also mentioned getting organized for the kids’ return to school, with her mum helping out with uniforms and all the things to remember.

Helen opened up about how difficult it is to be alone. When she’s constantly with her children, she feels anxious and worries she could be more patient, but accepts it’s part of life. She said, “It’s just a build-up of anxiety. None of it’s easy.”

She admitted she struggles with being on her own—not just in relationships—but even socially, she’s always with friends. That’s why she loves social media because it keeps her connected. Helen said she doesn’t enjoy her own company much.

Ending on a lighter note, she joked, “That’s enough of my breakdown. I’m going to write a list and be productive.”

In another recent moment, Helen fired back at cruel critics who targeted her for wearing a tiny bra and defended her decision to have a boob job.

After receiving nasty comments on a photo of her in a turquoise dress, including remarks like “Who on earth is she? Dress is too small anyway,” Helen responded strongly.

She explained she attended a beautiful wedding recently, showing off a silver sequin suit paired with a tiny black bra, and anticipated more negative comments for showing cleavage.

Helen revealed that after breastfeeding, her breasts had lost volume and looked “so bad” she joked she could have tied them in a bow. Before having kids, she naturally had E-cup breasts.

She’s faced criticism from people telling her she should cover up as a mum or that her kids would be ashamed of her. But Helen hit back, saying, “This is actually my body,” and questioned why she should feel ashamed for looking confident and sexy just because she’s a woman.

She made it clear that being confident and embracing her appearance is nothing to be ashamed of.

Helen expressed confusion over why her confidence would make her a bad mum.

She admitted she’s not perfect but emphasized that she strives to teach her children the value of kindness. Helen also made it clear she would never want her kids to put other women down.
