Cristiano Ronaldo and Georgina Rodríguez have announced their engagement after nine years together. The 31-year-old model shared the news on Instagram on Monday, showing off her huge diamond ring.
The 40-year-old Portuguese footballer finally proposed, following months of speculation. Georgina confirmed the engagement, writing: “Yes I do. In this and in all my lives.”
Until now, Georgina had been wearing a different diamond ring, but the couple was not officially engaged at the time.
Fans began speculating about their engagement last month when Georgina posted photos of a bridal-themed dinner, which included “D heart G” pillows, a six-piece band, and beautiful white flower arrangements. She also wore a large sparkler on her wedding ring finger, hinting at their secret engagement.
Georgina and Ronaldo received warm congratulations from their celebrity friends in the comments.
Lauren Sanchez Bezos wrote, “So happy for you. ❤️” while fellow WAG Taylor Ward said, “Amazing, congratulations ❤️❤️.”
Charlotte Tilbury shared her excitement, commenting, “Darling, what fabulous news!!! Sending you both heartfelt congratulations and so much LOVE!!”
Piers Morgan also congratulated them, writing, “Wonderful news! Many congrats to you both.”
Just last month, Ronaldo explained why they weren’t married yet during an interview on Netflix. He said, “I always tell her, ‘when we get that click.’ Like everything with our life, and she knows what I’m talking about. It could be in a year, six months, or a month. I’m 1000% sure it’ll happen.”
The couple has been together since 2016 and share two daughters, Alana, seven, and Bella, two. Georgina is also the stepmother to Ronaldo’s other three children.
In an interview for her Netflix reality show I Am Georgina, the model revealed that her friends often tease her about when she’ll get married. She shared, “They’re always joking about the wedding. ‘When is the wedding?’ Since Jennifer Lopez’s song ‘The Ring Or When’ came out, they started singing it to me. And well, this is not up to me.”
Even though they’re not officially married, Ronaldo has often referred to Georgina as his “wife.” At the 2024 Globe Soccer Awards in Dubai, he said, “It’s a big pleasure to win this trophy. My oldest son is here, my wife [Georgina] is here.”
He also called her his wife during a Mr. and Mrs. game on his YouTube channel in late August. In the same video, they appeared to be wearing wedding rings.
Additionally, a past video resurfaced where Ronaldo casually referred to Georgina as his wife while discussing his morning routine. On the WHOOP podcast, he said, “I take my coffee when I start my day. It’s my routine… in the morning, I take my coffee, speak with my kids, with my wife, and start the day.”
Currently, with Ronaldo playing for Al-Nassr in Saudi Arabia, the couple lives in Riyadh, the capital.
