Coronation Street’s Catherine Tyldesley issues two-word return message seven years after exit

The actress was best known for playing Eva Price in the ITV soap for several years before she decided to leave back in 2018.

Catherine Tyldesley has shared her first message since her Coronation Street return was officially confirmed, seven years after she waved goodbye to Weatherfield.

The actress was best known for playing Eva Price in the ITV soap for several years before she decided to leave back in 2018.

Fans will recall that Eva first arrived on the cobbles in 2011 when her mother, Stella, played by EastEnders legend Michelle Collins, took over the beloved Weatherfield boozer and told Leanne Battersby that she was her biological mother.

Despite initial resentment on both sides, the sisters became very close and when Stella left the Street in 2014, Eva moved into 18a Victoria Street with Leanne and her step-son, Simon Barlow and she quickly made a life for herself on the cobbles.

However, drama ensued and later, Eva left Weatherfield in 2018 when she decided to move to France with her young daughter, Susie Price, following the devastating suicide of her little girl’s father, Aidan Connor.

Now, Corrie has confirmed that Cath will reprise her role in the ITV soap this autumn as the new landlady of the Rovers Return and she’s bringing her new family with her.

According to the soap, she is back filming top secret scenes in Weatherfield and she has been joined by two exciting new additions to the cast – acclaimed actors Aaron McCusker and Pauline McLynn who play Eva’s partner Ben Driscoll and his interfering mother, Maggie.

Eva and Ben will be revealed to residents as the new owners of The Rovers Return in October – putting Eva back behind the bar of the nation’s favourite pub for the first time since 2018.

Eva will be reunited with her sisters Leanne and Toyah Battersby, as well as catching up with her old friends and neighbours. But what has she been up to since she left Weatherfield and how will this new clan fit into the drama on the Street?

Also joining the cast will be Ben’s two sons and Eva’s daughter Suzie and it is safe to say the Price-Driscoll family will be arriving with a bang and a suitcase full of secrets.

Following the big announcement, Cath took to Instagram with the first picture of herself back in Eva mode, complete with a pink power suit, alongside her new on-screen family.

Alongside the post, the actress simply wrote: “… Hello Weatherfield [pink heart emojis].” And the comments soon came flooding in.

Corrie co-star Tony Maudsley gushed: “Now THIS is a new family I already love!!! Shenanigans afoot!!” while Channique Sterling-Brown wrote: “What a time.” Corrie’s official account replied: “Welcome back queen.” Natalie Anderson also cheered: “There she is!!”

@conversationstreet said: “A big welcome back! Can’t wait to see you on our screens again!” @milliemclarenx commented: “This is going to make me watch corrie again!! eva DIVA price i love you welcome home.” @hlp10399 added: “I’m so excited THE BEST NEWS welcome home Cath.”
