Eric Clapton is about to become a grandfather again! His daughter, Ruth Clapton, has announced she’s expecting her third child.
The 40-year-old singer and content creator shared the joyful news on Instagram, posting an adorable video with her partner, Peter Greenwood, as they celebrated the upcoming addition to their growing family.
On the picture, Ruth proudly turned to the side to reveal her baby bump, as she and Peter lovingly rubbed her belly before sharing a glimpse of their baby’s sonogram.
“We’re having a baby! Just over 12 weeks now, due at the end of January 2026. So grateful,” she captioned the post, radiating excitement and gratitude.
This will be the first child for Ruth and her partner Peter. Ruth is already a devoted mom to two boys, Isaac, 11, and Theodore, nine, whom she shares with her ex-husband, Dean Bartlett.
Ruth also opened up about her difficult battle with hyperemesis gravidarum, a severe and persistent form of morning sickness she’s faced during both of her previous pregnancies.
“It’s pretty horrendous,” she shared in her Instagram Stories. “It just takes me out. I feel sick all day, every day. Sometimes I’m sick all day, every day. You’re just so tired.”
Ruth explained, “The first trimester is tough for most women, but if you have hyperemesis gravidarum, it’s a whole different level.”
She praised her partner Peter, saying, “Luckily, I have an amazing partner who’s taken on the extra load with the kids, the house, and me — all while working full time. That’s been incredible.”
Ruth added that this pregnancy feels “quite a different journey” compared to her previous ones, thanks largely to Peter’s support in helping her “rest, relax, and get well.”
Ruth and her partner Peter had been trying to conceive, and she shared her surprise at how quickly she became pregnant.
Ruth is the daughter of Eric Clapton and Yvonne Kelly, who was the manager of AIR Studios Montserrat. Eric and Yvonne began their relationship while he was still married to his first wife, Pattie Boyd.
At the time, Yvonne was also married, and Ruth’s existence remained a private secret until 1991. The news came to light after the tragic death of Eric’s four-year-old son, Conor, who died after falling from an open window on the 53rd floor of a Manhattan apartment.
Ruth and Eric Clapton shared a close relationship during her childhood, though they were estranged for several years. As she got older, they reconnected and now enjoy a strong bond.
Eric is also father to three other daughters with his wife Melia. Their eldest, Julie, 24, is a creative like her dad. She studied Fine Arts at the Rhode Island School of Design and focuses on weaving, knitting, papermaking, performance, and painting.
Julie mostly works out of Brooklyn and has showcased her artwork in several exhibitions, building her own artistic path.
Eric and Melia’s second daughter, Ella, 22, is currently studying sociology at the University of Newcastle in England.
Their youngest daughter, Sophie, 20, keeps a low profile, and little is known about her since she doesn’t have a public social media presence like her sisters.
