Brooklyn Beckham surprised fans by publicly wishing his sister Harper a happy 14th birthday, amid speculation he might not acknowledge the occasion.
Earlier on Thursday, Victoria Beckham and her son Romeo were the first in the family to share birthday tributes to Harper. Brooklyn later followed suit, posting a message jointly with his wife Nicola Peltz.
However, in a subtle nod to rumored tensions, the couple left David and Victoria Beckham out of their post—despite the family photo being taken at Victoria’s Paris Fashion Week show last September.
The post marks Brooklyn’s first public interaction with his family since he paid tribute to his grandmother Sandra on 26 June, despite remaining silent and shunning his father’s 50th birthday earlier the same month.
Harper’s big day was at risk of widening the rift between David and Victoria and their eldest son, had he not reached out and put differences aside. His post came shortly before David then wished Harper a happy birthday.
Sources close to the family have told MailOnline of their fears that Brooklyn and his wife Nicola, 30, have also distanced themselves from Harper after they failed to visit her when they flew into London in May to film an advert for French-Italian clothing brand Moncler just over a mile from the family home in Holland Park.
In her own tribute to her daughter, fashion designer, 51, took to Instagram and shared several snaps of her youngest taken over the years, in a move which further showcased Brooklyn’s absence following rumoured fall-out over his actress wife.
Alongside the her post, Victoria wrote: ‘Happy birthday to my world!! You are my everything and I’m so proud of the strong, confident, kind and talented young lady you are becoming.
‘You’re my best friend and I’m so lucky I get to be your mummy. We love you so so much!! Enjoy your special day!! ❤️ Kisses @davidbeckham xxx’.
The snaps included an adorable photo of Harper in a pink dress and tights and another of her perched on a motorbike with her father David.
Victoria also posted a photo of herself cradling Harper when she was a toddler and another of her on the beach where she wrote in the sand: ‘I love mummy and daddy’.
Other shots included one of David cradling his daughter as a baby and an adorable clip of her singing along to Carly Rae Jepsen’s hit song Call Me Maybe.
Romeo, 22, was the first sibling to send his well wishes to Harper as he shared a photo of the pair at an event together.
He wrote: ‘Happy 14th to the most amazing human there is, love you always and forever.’
Romeo and his other siblings were actually beaten to the punch by Cruz Beckham’s girlfriend Jackie Apostel who shared her own sweet message for Harper.
The songwriter, 29, shared a photo of herself and Harper sunbathing aboard a yacht and wrote: ‘Happy 14th birthday beautiful girl!’
She then shared another photo of the pair backstage at Victoria’s Paris Fashion Week show in September last year.
Cruz also shared a sweet snap with his sister to mark the day.
David and Victoria had no idea whether Brooklyn, who Harper has idolised since she was a little girl, would message her privately or publicly on Instagram because they have no communication with him.
It comes as tensions have continued to bubble in the past few weeks with a series of digs and jibes from camp Nicola and Brooklyn.
On Wednesday aspiring chef Brooklyn shared a cooking video accompanied by a song which referred to not feeling like he has the confidence to speak up and finally feeling empowered – in a seemingly subtle but defiant message.
And on the same day Nicola made a bizarre nod to father-in-law David as she sported a replica pair of the iconic football shorts he wore for his England debut in the 90s while out on her family’s superyacht.
She was also keen to flaunt her close family bonds during the holiday to St Tropez as she shared gushing Instagram posts about her brothers on Monday.
Nicola continued to publicly praise and share admiration for her billionaire family on social media amid her husband’s family feud.
The actress took to Instagram to share a series of photographs in which she gushed over her billionaire father Nelson Peltz and joked that her Labubu dolls were her family.
Tensions within the Beckham family continued to show as Brooklyn Beckham and his wife Nicola Peltz shared photos attending her family’s recent birthday celebrations—drawing painful comparisons to their absence at David Beckham’s 50th birthday festivities earlier this year.
The rift became even more apparent last week when Romeo Beckham posted a pointed message on social media about “appreciating people that love you,” stressing that “life is too short” not to express love—comments many interpreted as a subtle dig amid the family feud.
While Nicola appears to enjoy a close and public bond with her own family, insiders warn that Brooklyn risks damaging his once-strong relationship with his younger sister Harper by allowing the conflict to overshadow her 14th birthday.
Sources close to the Beckhams had said that if Brooklyn failed to acknowledge Harper’s birthday, it would mark a significant moment in the ongoing feud. Tensions have been simmering since Brooklyn and Nicola skipped all of David’s 50th birthday celebrations, held between late March and early May.
“Brooklyn and Harper used to be inseparable,” one source said. “He adored her—hopefully he still does. But he’s been distancing himself from family occasions, and Harper, who is just 13, is the innocent party in all of this.”
The source added that Harper’s birthday has always been a joyful event, with the youngest Beckham often celebrated affectionately as the family’s “little princess.” Brooklyn, who was 12 when Harper was born, played a significant role in her early life. Now, the fallout with David and Victoria means the siblings rarely see each other.
David and Victoria reportedly blame Nicola for the estrangement, believing she has a controlling influence over Brooklyn. Although Nicola once appeared close to Harper—even taking on a ‘big sister’ role early in her relationship with Brooklyn—the dynamics have clearly shifted.
Despite Harper not having her own Instagram, the family usually tags her in birthday tributes using the hashtag #HarperSeven. Brooklyn and Nicola eventually did share a post for her birthday, but notably excluded David and Victoria from the photo, even though it was taken at Victoria’s Paris Fashion Week show last September.
Posh and Becks were furious when the couple didn’t contact Harper when they visited London just weeks after David’s birthday.
At the time they were also cross that they didn’t get in touch with Cruz, 19, either because at that point he and Brooklyn had never had a crossed word.
Since then the singer has very much come out on his parents’ side amid the rift.
Despite ignoring his father’s birthday and his mum Victoria’s two weeks before in April, Brooklyn did take to Instagram to wish the footballer’s mum Sandra a happy birthday two weeks ago.
However, Victoria was devastated when he didn’t do the same for her father Tony back in May.
Last week, Nicola addressed speculation that she was ‘controlling’ Brooklyn after posting snaps with her family and Brooklyn celebrating her father Nelson’s 83rd birthday on the European getaway.
The celebratory photos were the latest blow for David and Victoria, after Brooklyn snubbed his own dad’s 50th birthday – with many flooding the comment section to accuse Nicola of being to blame.
Yet she hit back by ‘liking’ a fan’s comment that suggested Brooklyn had made his own decision.
The comment read: ‘The fact people are in this comment section talking bs about someone controlling a GROWN man is absurd. The guy is an adult and can make his own decisions, leave them be and stop blaming women for everything.’
Amid his escalating feud with his family, the pair failed to publicly acknowledge David’s milestone 50th birthday on May 8.
