Kelly Clarkson canceled the first two shows of her Las Vegas residency just minutes before they were set to start.
The 43-year-old shared on Instagram 90 minutes before showtime that she was “devastated” to postpone the concerts after intense rehearsals.
She explained that she needs to protect her voice to avoid causing serious damage.
Kelly Clarkson wrote to her fans, saying, “We have been working 24/7 to make Studio Sessions the most intimate and extraordinary experience with and for my incredible fans.”
She expressed deep gratitude for their support but said she was “devastated” to postpone the opening shows at Caesars.
Kelly explained that the preparation and rehearsals have strained her voice, and she wants “the shows to be perfect for y’all.”

Kelly Clarkson explained she needs to rest her voice to avoid serious damage, saying she’ll take the weekend and next week off to recover so they can deliver the show fans deserve. She praised her talented band and emphasized wanting to start the residency strong.
She ended by saying she can’t wait to return next weekend and share what they’ve been working on. Just hours before announcing the cancellations, Kelly had shared behind-the-scenes photos with the caption “TONIGHT!!”
Fans were disappointed by the sudden cancellation, with many expressing their sadness and frustration online. Some flew to Vegas only to find out the show was canceled shortly before it started, while others showed support and wished her a speedy recovery. One fan hoped to catch a fall show instead.

Kelly Clarkson announced her new Las Vegas residency, Studio Sessions, at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace earlier this year in February, expressing excitement about bringing a studio-like experience to the stage.
This follows her previous residency at Planet Hollywood Resort from 2023 to 2024. The new residency was set to begin on the Fourth of July, with a second show the following day.
She still has several shows scheduled through July and August, with plans to return to The Colosseum in November.
In May, during a Today interview, Kelly shared that this residency would be quite different from her past performances, hinting at a fresh approach for her fans.

Kelly Clarkson explained that her Studio Sessions residency aims to capture the genuine, live studio feel that she believes has been lost since the ’70s. She described the show as fully live, with no backing tracks, more musicians and singers on stage, and a fuller sound to give fans an authentic experience.
However, in the same month, reports revealed that many tickets—including for opening night—had yet to sell.
The cancellation of her first two shows comes amid uncertainty about her future on her Emmy-winning talk show. Her NBC contract ends in 2026, and she is reportedly considering stepping away from the program.

In March, Kelly Clarkson took a mysterious 10-day break from her talk show due to a “private matter.”
A source told Page Six in late May that this period was very difficult for her. The insider explained that Kelly, like everyone, wants to be liked but realized she needed to step back for a while.
They added that her family remains her top priority and that this experience has humbled her, giving her a moment of clarity about what really matters.
