Over the weekend at Fuel Fest in Pomona, California, Vin Diesel made a surprising announcement about the final Fast & Furious film.
The 57-year-old actor took the stage on Saturday night wearing a shirt that read, “Fast X Part 2 Los Angeles Production 2025,” and shared an update on Fast X Part 2.
He also revealed three demands he made to Universal Pictures for the concluding movie.
Vin Diesel confirmed that Universal Pictures wants to release the Fast & Furious finale in April 2027.
He told the audience, “The studio said to me, ‘Vin, can we please have the finale of Fast and Furious in April 2027?’”
Diesel said he agreed but with three conditions: first, to bring the franchise back to Los Angeles; second, to return to its roots in car culture and street racing; and third, to reunite Dom with Brian O’Conner, the character played by the late Paul Walker.

Vin Diesel was joined on stage by co-star Tyrese Gibson, who shared a video capturing the crowd’s loud cheers when Diesel mentioned Dom and Brian O’Conner.
In the video, Diesel added, “That is what you’re gonna get in the finale! Love you!”
The footage also showed Diesel giving a warm hug to Paul Walker’s mother, Cheryl.
yrese Gibson emphasized the importance of Los Angeles to the franchise, saying, “I’ve got love for every other city and every other country, but this Fast & Furious s**t started right here in L.A.”
The first film, 2001’s The Fast and the Furious, was set in Los Angeles and followed Brian O’Conner (Paul Walker), an undercover LAPD cop infiltrating Dominic Toretto’s (Vin Diesel) crew.
Tragically, Walker passed away in a car accident in November 2013 while filming Furious 7. Production paused for several months as the team figured out how to handle his character.
When filming resumed, they chose to “retire” Brian O’Conner by having him drive off into the sunset, leaving the crew behind to spend time with his family. The farewell was marked by the emotional song See You Again by Wiz Khalifa and Charlie Puth.
To complete Walker’s remaining scenes, the filmmakers used his brothers Cody and Caleb as stand-ins, digitally superimposing Paul’s face onto their bodies for the new shots.

Brian O’Conner hasn’t appeared in any of the Fast & Furious films since Furious 7, though he’s been mentioned and is considered alive within the film universe.
That’s set to change in Fast X Part 2, as Vin Diesel has promised fans they will see Brian O’Conner again.
It’s likely the filmmakers will either use previously unseen footage of Paul Walker from earlier movies or bring back his brothers, Cody and Caleb Walker, as stand-ins with Paul’s face digitally added, similar to what was done in Furious 7.
Since its start in 2001, the Fast & Furious franchise has earned an impressive $7.2 billion at the global box office.
