Clarkson’s Farm season four shows noticeable change that ‘stresses’ fans

Clarkson’s Farm has been popular since its debut, but some fans are unhappy with a ‘change’ introduced in the latest season.

Fans of Clarkson’s Farm have expressed that the latest season has become “too stressful to enjoy” because of a major change in its tone.

While the show, hosted by Jeremy Clarkson, received praise when it premiered on Amazon Prime earlier this year, many viewers felt the final episodes of the current season were overwhelmingly tense.

On the r/ClarksonsFarm subreddit, fans discussed how the new season’s heavier content made the show harder to watch, with one viewer saying it shifted from fun chaos to more of an existential crisis.

This change was a big departure from earlier episodes, and many fans missed the humor that used to define the show.

A Reddit user shared: “I grew up on a farm and now keep ducks, so I’m used to mud, mess, and things going wrong — I practically thrive in it. But even I found Season 4 felt more like an ‘existential crisis’ than ‘entertaining chaos.’ We ended up at the pub by chance, not because we were fans or pilgrims.”

The user praised Clarkson for highlighting the challenges British farmers face but felt the show had shifted into watching Clarkson “speedrun a nervous breakdown.”

They said it no longer felt like Diddly Squat Farm but more like a polished Soho Farmhouse pretending to be authentic. The usual messy-but-successful vibe was replaced with “messy and everyone’s crying,” full of noise but lacking a clear story.

Another fan agreed, saying this season was overwhelming and lost the fun mix of Clarkson’s silly and smart moments. The last two episodes were especially stressful, with sympathy for Charlie.

One viewer added they liked how the first season was slower paced, letting you actually follow growth. Now it felt rushed, with too many half-finished projects and a constant push to start new expensive ventures without focus.

A third viewer shared that they felt more pride watching Clarkson grow his first potato and excitedly say, “I did a thing,” than watching him pour money into building a pub under intense pressure.

They described the first as genuine growth, while the latter felt like a midlife crisis—just with a complicated tractor instead of a sports car. They expressed concern that the show might be losing the charm that made it special.

Despite some criticism, not all feedback has been negative. Many fans remain eager for more, with one enthusiast saying, “I loved it and I want another season.”

Another fan shared: “Everyone’s been saying how disappointing this season is, but honestly, it’s been my favorite so far. My dad and I really enjoyed all the drama with the pub — we just laugh at how everything Jeremy does turns into a catastrophe.”

A third viewer added: “You’ve made some good points, but I still loved it… and I can’t wait for Season 5.”
