However, his return is particularly emotional, as it coincides with the departure of his close friend and co-star Sue Cleaver, who is leaving the soap after over 20 years of playing Eileen Grimshaw.

Ryan explained that Jason is down on his luck—his girlfriend has left him, he’s struggling financially, and ultimately, he just needs his mum’s support and comfort.
He admitted, “He says he’s come back for Eileen, but he really needs a cuddle and his safety net.”
Although he’s happy to return, Ryan confessed he felt nervous on his first day back, needing half the day just to shake off the nerves.
