Ryan Thomas has opened up about the emotional reason behind his return to Coronation Street. His character, Jason Grimshaw, comes back as a surprise for his mum, Eileen, played by Sue Cleaver. Ryan explained that Jason is down on his luck—his girlfriend has left him, he’s struggling financially, and ultimately, he just needs his mum’s support and comfort.
He admitted, “He says he’s come back for Eileen, but he really needs a cuddle and his safety net.”
Although he’s happy to return, Ryan confessed he felt nervous on his first day back, needing half the day just to shake off the nerves.
