Couple shocked by incredibly rare outcome of quadruplet birth: ‘My husband was about to pass out’

The babies were born on November 20 via cesarean section.

A Louisiana couple had an extraordinary end to 2024 when they welcomed quadruplet daughters. On November 20, Farrah Larry underwent a cesarean section, expecting to give birth to four healthy baby girls. However, she and her husband Peyton were surprised to find that their babies were born as two sets of identical twins. Farrah, 29, shared the incredible story of the birth, which took place just before Thanksgiving.

Farrah recalled, “I was laughing and crying at the same time,” before adding, “My husband was about to pass out.” The couple, who met in college, discovered they were expecting quadruplets only after announcing their pregnancy in May 2024. Since the babies were conceived naturally, they were shocked to learn that Farrah was carrying more than one baby.

The odds of conceiving quadruplets naturally, without fertility treatment, are incredibly rare, ranging between 1 in 512,000 and 1 in 677,000, according to the Journal of Family and Reproductive Health. On top of that, the occurrence of having two sets of identical twins is even more extraordinary.

Farrah expressed, “Clearly God has a plan for these girls because the odds were against us. We’ve just got to trust Him.” Initially, the couple referred to their daughters as Baby A, B, C, and D. However, they later named them Paisley, Psalm, Lyric, and Fallyn. Paisley and Psalm are one set of twins, while Lyric and Fallyn make up the other. Peyton and Farrah chose their names by randomly drawing them from a brown bag, leaving the decision to fate.

Farrah explained, “As the baby came out, he would pull out the name and say, ‘Alright, this is Lyric…’” Each of the babies weighed around four pounds at birth. After their arrival, they were placed in the neonatal intensive care unit for a few weeks before being allowed to go home from the hospital.

Farrah shared with People, “I’m sleeping maybe three and a half hours a night. For diapers, we’re going through seven or eight a day, times four. We’re going through packs quickly. It’s the same for bottles; they eat like eight times a day.”

In 2023, another couple from Alabama experienced their own miracle, welcoming quadruplets, also two sets of identical twins. The boys, David and Daniel, and the girls, Evelyn and Adeline, were carried by Hannah Carmack and born via cesarean section at 27 weeks.
