Scott Maslen, known for his role as Jack Branning, has revealed details about his life, including a surprising hobby and his lookalike son

Scott Maslen, best known for his role as Jack Branning in EastEnders, leads a life that’s very different from the dramatic plots of the show. Away from the spotlight, Scott, 53, is a devoted family man with a surprising hobby and a son who looks strikingly like him.

While he’s achieved fame with his role in EastEnders, along with appearances on Strictly Come Dancing and Celebrity MasterChef, Scott’s path to stardom was not always clear. Growing up in London, he initially aspired to join the Royal Marines, even enrolling in cadets, but a serious injury at 16 ended that dream. He later pursued modeling in Los Angeles before returning to the UK to study acting.

Despite not joining the Marines, Scott has remained passionate about fitness and health, frequently showcasing his physique on Instagram. He’s been a vegetarian since 18 and was even named PETA’s sexiest vegetarian celebrity in 2009. His son, Zak, shares his vegetarian lifestyle. Scott and his wife, DJ Estelle Rubio, met in 1999 and married in 2008, with their wedding attended by several EastEnders stars.

Estelle, a successful DJ and singer, has worked with artists like Basement Jaxx, La Roux, and Clean Bandit. The couple has one child, Zak, who fans have noted looks remarkably like his father, with both sharing similar dark features and a strong build.

Scott is also an avid fisherman, a hobby he’s deeply passionate about, even calling it “Carp Fishing Disorder” due to his obsession. He fondly recalls trips with his grandfather, where they explored nature. His Chesapeake Bay retriever, Chewy, accompanies him on fishing trips, often swimming alongside Scott in the boat.

Though Zak doesn’t share his father’s love for fishing, Scott’s deep connection to nature and family remains a central part of his life.
