Nicole Scherzinger Reveals Why Her Time with Pussycat Dolls Was ‘Such a Difficult Time

Nicole Scherzinger has opened up about the challenges she faced during her time with the Pussycat Dolls, revealing that it was a “difficult time” for her. Reflecting on the pressures of being in a girl group that rose to fame in the Noughties, Scherzinger, now a solo artist and Broadway performer, shared how the constant touring and release schedules caused immense strain, including sleep deprivation. She recalled that the band’s grueling schedule led to sleeping problems, calling it a “recipe for disaster.”

The 45-year-old explained that the music industry has evolved, with new rules and more support now in place for emerging artists. She noted that during her time with the group, there was little regard for well-being, with the focus solely on working members “to the bone.”

Scherzinger also discussed her experience with body dysmorphia in the early days of the group. As a singer who wasn’t initially trained in dance, she struggled with her body being thrust into the spotlight, especially next to her bandmates, who were all trained dancers. Over time, she grew more confident in her own skin and had the freedom to choose her stage outfits, expressing herself through clothing that made her feel empowered.

Despite the group’s brief reunion for The X Factor: Celebrity five years ago and plans for a tour, the Pussycat Dolls’ reunion was put on hold in 2022. Scherzinger found herself at the center of a dispute when band members claimed she pulled out without informing them. Furthermore, the group’s founder, Robin Antin, has reportedly filed a lawsuit against Scherzinger regarding the situation.

Scherzinger addressed the lawsuit, expressing that it came as a complete shock. She described the experience as heartbreaking but emphasized that she is a “victor” rather than a “victim,” standing firm in her position and responding with eight counter-claims. Despite the drama, she remains hopeful for the future.
