Former Emmerdale actor Kelvin Fletcher, who has transitioned into farming, recently shared some insights into his new rural life and admitted to feeling “panicked” about one thing.
The 41-year-old also provided an update on his relationship with his wife and co-star of Fletcher’s Family Farm, Elizabeth Marsland, acknowledging their differences.
Speaking on the Who We Are Now podcast with Izzy and Richard Hammond, Kelvin expressed his anxiety after receiving news from his farm. He was particularly worried about the impact of poor weather on his livestock, stating: “I’ve just had a message, there’s quite a bit of snow at home and I’ve already been panicking because I moved the cows into a different field and I’ve got the ring feeder out and the sheep, there’s no hay out for them.”

The former Strictly Come Dancing star also discussed his marriage to Elizabeth Marsland, whom he met when they were both eight years old. He said: “We’re very different, if something’s red, Liz will say it’s blue, but that’s just the way that we are. Maybe that’s why we’re compatible, I don’t know. We’ve certainly got a history together and an understanding.”
Nonetheless, he amusingly backtracked, jokingly conceding: “No actually, like most other married couples you still don’t understand the other person, do you?”
However, he is undoubtedly best known for his portrayal of Emmerdale’s Andy Sugden starting from 1996. After twenty years in the role, he decided to bid farewell to the character in 2016. Meanwhile he managed to make it all the way to the final and claim the top prize alongside Oti Mabuse on Strictly Come Dancing in 2019.
Since leaving Emmerdale, Kelvin has turned to agriculture, even featuring in his own ITV series Fletcher’s Family Farm, which follows the daily activities at his and Elizabeth’s 120-acre farm.
