Demi Moore shines as she lovingly holds her adorable pooch Pilaf on the red carpet at the 2025 Independent Spirit Awards

Demi Moore dazzled as she attended the star-studded 2025 Independent Spirit Awards in Santa Monica on Saturday, accompanied by her adorable pup, Pilaf.

The 62-year-old actress—who recently visited London for the BAFTAs—joined fellow celebrities like Julia Fox and Emma Stone at the glamorous event.

Moore is nominated for Best Lead Performance for her role in the body horror film The Substance, following her recent Golden Globe and Critics Choice Award wins.

The film has also earned a nomination for Best Feature, alongside Anora, Sing Sing, I Saw The TV Glow, and Nickel Boys.

Ahead of the ceremony, Demi Moore turned heads in a sheer black dress that flowed down to her ankles, featuring striped fabric underneath.

She completed the look with closed-toe black heels and a matching jacket, left open at the front for a chic touch.

Demi Moore styled her long, dark locks in a sleek, middle part, letting them cascade straight past her shoulders.

She accessorized with sparkling silver earrings and several chunky rings on both hands. Adding a unique touch to her ensemble, she carried a black dog-shaped purse with a gold chain strap.

Her makeup featured classic elegance, with mascara-coated lashes, subtle eyeshadow, and a warm blush for a radiant glow. A glossy nude lip tint completed the look.

Moore flashed a bright smile as she posed for photos upon arriving at the venue, lovingly cradling her Chihuahua, Pilaf, whom she adopted during the Covid-19 pandemic.

Beyond the Independent Spirit Awards, the Ghost actress has also earned her first Oscar nomination for Best Actress, along with nods for a SAG Award and more.

The Substance hit theaters in September 2024, featuring a star-studded cast that included Margaret Qualley, Dennis Quaid, Hugo Diego Garcia, and Oscar Lesage.

The film follows a fading celebrity who takes a black-market drug— a cell-replicating substance that temporarily creates a younger, enhanced version of herself, according to IMDb.

In preparation for her role as Elisabeth Sparkle, Demi Moore revealed to Backstage that she worked closely with an acting coach.

“We literally went through the script page by page and did a super deep dive, especially since I had very little dialogue,” she explained.

“With most of my scenes, I had to create a way to be in dialogue with myself since I didn’t have the luxury of feeding off another actor.”

She further elaborated, “In the arc of the story, because it goes so big, someone had to be the anchor to reality, and that was Elisabeth Sparkle.

“She had to ground the audience’s connection to our humanness so that the film could venture into these enormous, wild places.”

Moore added, “I wanted to ensure that I was alive in my thinking and that my thoughts were truly me in conversation with myself, even in moments of silence.”

Demi Moore also reflected on receiving her first-ever Oscar nomination, describing it as both “everything and nothing.”

“This is the biggest award in our industry, and in some ways, it means everything,” she explained. “But at the same time, at ground zero, you don’t make choices with that as the goal.”

She added, “That’s the way for it not to work out. When you stay on a path that’s authentic to you and focus on doing meaningful, memorable work—at least for me—that’s what truly drives me.”

Last month, Moore won a Golden Globe for Best Actress and delivered a heartfelt speech, recalling how a producer once dismissed her as a “popcorn actress.”

She shared that for a long time, she felt like accolades weren’t something she was “allowed to have”—that while she could star in successful, high-grossing films, true recognition always seemed out of reach.

Demi Moore admitted that for a long time, she believed she would never be enough, recalling a moment when a woman told her, “Just know you will never be enough, but you can understand your worth if you put down the measuring stick.”

Earlier this month, Moore took home the Critics Choice Award for Best Actress.

During her emotional acceptance speech, she shared, “When I started this journey with the film, I could never have imagined being here. This is beyond anything I could have hoped for.”

She was also nominated for a BAFTA, with the ceremony taking place last weekend. However, the Best Actress award ultimately went to Mikey Madison for her performance in Anora.
